I"m doing my Doubler setup and want to goto flanges vs yokes. I noticed that the ft output flange on a np208 is 32 spline will this flange work on the ft and rear of a np205?

Also I need to swap out my 30 spline ft shaft for a 32 spline shaft. I know I can buy them from ORD But did 32 spline ever come stock in a NP205? I just hate to spend 170.00 bucks if I can find a used original 32 spline shaft.

Divorced Dodge 205s, Ford married and divorced 205s and IH 205s all had 32 spline front outputs. they will all go right into a GM 205.

Just went through the same thing. the seal for the 205 will not work with a 208 flange. The seal you need is a NAPA 18752. Its around 15 bucks, but its a good seal.

Didnt read your other questions. But I think the 205 in the 1 tons with the TH400 were 32 spline. I could be wrong tho.

I have done this several ways. First, the 208 yokes will work with the correct seal, but it gives the the Saginaw style of flanges.

The GM 205's ran the 30 spline front output in the 80's, 10 spline in the 70's.

Sorry for the hi-jack, but let me get this clear. I have a 1410 front yoke for a 208 that came from Jesse. I can use that yoke on my ford 205 with the seal u stated above. The 208 seal was not changed, looks like the yoke was turned some to fit this seal.

You're wrong. GM TH400 style np205s were 30 spliners.

this seal will it work on the rear output and also on the ft output once I goto 32 spline ft shaft?

I read this thread and picked up a front FLANGE from a 208 at the junkyard.
When I tried to put it on the back of the fixed yoke 205, it won't work:mad3:
The splines matched alright, but the rear output shaft was too short. It didn't stick out far enough to put the nut on.

thanks for the info on that. Back to the drawing board for a rear flange idea

fuck.....I figured that would be too easy. Does it look like there is an easy way to modify the 208 flange?

Not enough threads showing like the snout is too long? can't you just mill it down?

There were 2 flanges, the ridiculously long one pictured and a short one that looks square from the front.

I succesfully put a 32 spline 205 1350 yoke on the front of my NP241 so I know you can interchange them. You just can't be getting the flange like pictured that uses a longer output shaft.

i heard all gm 205's hade either coarse 10 spline or 30 spline in later model versions

Yea, When I answered the question I was thinking input from the tranny not the outputs, im retarded :shaking:

The 208 front flange you need is the short front output one. The one you pictured that is too long appears to be one from an IFS 241 truck, or at least that is all I have ever seen them in, and the front outputs on those were long to match the yoke.

Use the 32 spline Ford front output with the square 208 front yoke along with a new seal and you will be stylin! Plus, at anytime you can switch to one of the million different 32 spline yokes available.

I just (10 min ago) took the front off of a Dodge 208 & all I had to do was knock the debris ring off of it. the seal on the 205 (ford is what I Have) is different, but I don't know what seal to get. But IT DOES WORK!!!! My front DL is 30+ inches long, so no need for a flange, so I have no clue on front TC outputs.

THE REAR WORKS YAY!!!! now it is time to put in my 16" long rear DL LOL

bggrnchvy and lumpdog are both correct in identifying that long yoke as a 241.

I went back to the junkyard and took another look at the t/case and it was a 241c. Sorry about posting incorrect info, but you guys were pretty good and caught it.
I did find a 208 there, and here is a pic of the correct SQUARE one, the long 241 and the stock 205 one.

Had anyone thought of checking the CUCV info and looking for a M1028 front yoke ? I'm sure there is a NSN on it then take the NSN and do a Google search to find it.

There are tons of places that sell NOS parts that advertise on the web.
