i have a 26 foot Class A Motorhome. A very strong 454. i will be pulling a 03 rubi on 37's

i also have a very beefy tow dolly that has been modified to allow proper bracing of the front 37" tires. This tow dolly has 2 wheels each side that have built in shock absorption. The dolly also pivots when turning reducing the 'dragging' effect on the rear tires.

1/ i assume to leave my 5 speed tranny in neutral and my t-case in neutral as well....correct?

2/ Steering wheel locked.

3/ rear shaft can stay connected with neutral/neutral set up?. Its no problem to disconnect the rear shaft, but if not necessary than i will leave it connected.

Thanks 8)

I don't know Jeeps but your Owner's Manual may give you the answer.

Unfortunately, dealerships and manuals only speak of flat towing. Doing that Neutral/Neutral works.
i just wonder if driveshaft is constantly turning, will it heat up too much or are fluids circulating in the diff?
i just put in 5.13's. Its a dana 44 with posi.
Thanks?

Do what the manual says, a tow dolly is the same as flat towing in that the rear tires are on the ground.

Yep, follow the manual, and crashnzuk is right, flat towing and a dolly are pretty much the same.

Oh, and if the deck of the dolly pivots, then yes, you can lock the steering.

I'd pull the shaft.

Check rv.net, they TOAD Jeeps regularly.

pull it, it doesn't take long, and you don't have to deal with the aftermath when the tranny jumps in gear and smokes the engine.

We pulled datsuns all over our farm. We made a little "jig" that mounted between the seat and firewall and wouldn't allow the shifter to go out of neutral. Then again, there was no way to get under them to pull a shaft, especially in soft field dirt.

I'd pull the shaft.

We always pull the shaft out when we are using a dolly. Heck I am going to Rausch Creek this weekend so I will be doing it on friday night.

Thanks all.
i found the manual, it says for flat towing, put t-case in Neutral and tranny in gear...i put it in 5th.
The dolly does pivot.
i will pull the shaft anyways, better safe than miserable.
Thanks again:smokin:
