I have just talked with Jason Nedlo of the Eldorado National Forest Route designation team. He wants to know if there would be good support for a meeting in the bay area after the draft EIS is released. The meeting would be most likely the week of July 23rd in the evening, unknown location at this time. They will explain what alternative they have chosen and how to file comments on the EIS; this is the only way to get something changed!!
I need input form everyone that has interest in the possibility of this meeting in the bay area; otherwise you will have to drive to Placerville to attend one.

It just that we are trying to get a meeting in the Bay Area to get input from as many people as possible. The location is still being determined, but it will be centrally located in the East Bay somewhere, Pleasanton, Hayward, etc.......

This is MUCH bigger deal than the Silverfork field trip. Everything is at stake next month and it's gonna be ALL BAD. :mad3:

We were gonna try to make it more of a centralized location in the Bay Area to draw more people, but it looks like that location may be the forest service's favorite.....

I read about this on another site, and I will try my best to be there. I love that area so anything I can do to help ill try my damnedest to do.

We have to show Jason Nedlo, the Ranger in charge of the route designation project, that there is enough interest in the Bay Area in order for the forest service to hold a meeting here. That is why we need as many people as possible to post here, so please spread the word.

My club's goal is to draw AT LEAST 250 people who are AGAINST closing routes and campsites in ELDO.

I'll be down in the Bay Area then and will plan to attend. Agree something like Hayward would be good.

Still a shatty drive at that hour but definitely doable one time. if it was held later on in the evening (say 8) this would be less of an issue ofcourse

Keep the replies coming, I talked to Jason of the Forest Service this morning, there is definatly good interest in Bay area meeting, they are trying to work out the logistics of it and will annonce the meeting schedule on July 10th, one will be Placerville and most likely Folsom, and hopfully the Bay area

When you attend the public meetings, please remember to sign the attendance log and list clubs/associations you are a member of.

It is through those logs that organizations can establish standing in event future legal action is pursued.

What happened to east bay the week of the 23rd? I have to be in Cortez CO. 18 hours after that meeting ends. It's an 18 hour drive. I'll still be there ,buggy out front on the trailer.

I'll be in Concord, and I am considering riding the VFR up to the Folsom meeting.

If you are in Pinole/Oakland area, I'll even offer to give a ride in my pickup truck to Concord for anyone who can't make it; I can even pickup/deliver people from the 19th St. Bart station in Oakland if desired (my office is on 20th & Franklin, downtown Oakland)
