I have 98' wrangler with a teraflex 3" lift with the spacers and bolts on the skid plate. I assume the bolts came with the kit and the stock ones are different length? Also is there a spacer on the stock height skid plate. I will be putting the skid plate back to stock and putting the slip yolk eliminator kit in the NP231 with the CV drive shaft. If the bolts/spacers are different length/size anyone have a set laying around to get mine back to stock?
Thanx,
Todd

The thing I noticed about the bolts is that they are tapered or ball/socket to keep the skid/crossmember tight and centered/square. If you look at a YJ frame, you will notice that there are no crossmembers, with the exception of the skid, anywhere near the center of the frame. This leads me to believe they intend the skid to be a structural member and should have the correct bolts to keep it tight and square. That's my take.

I am doing the same thing in a few weeks with my rig. I have 1 1/2 inch spacers with my 4" lift and im putting in an SYE and CV Driveshaft in the rear to get rid of those spacers. The stock bolts are indeed of the countersunk variety. They cost about five dollars apiece from the dealer and there are six of them. Im going to have to purchase mine again because the original bolts are stuck in a warehouse in long term storage because im moving to another country for a year or so very soon. As for factory spacers between the frame and the transfer case skid, on my 2001 TJ, there were none. The guys at the driveshaft shop also told me to expect to have to increase the length of my adjustable my rear upper control arms to get the appropriate pinion angle after installing the SYE and CV Shaft. Good luck with your project.

it is fine to run the longer bolts into the frame. there is nothing that will cause any interference with the bolts inside of the rails, the only thing that may prohibt the use of the longer bolts is the treads, more specifically- are they treaded all the way to the taper, or is there an un-threaded "shank" before the taper?

If you need them, I have a complete set of stock, tapered skid plate bolts that I would be glad to send to you. Since I installed my Skyjunker TT, I don't need them. Just PM me an address.
PS, there are no spacers used with the OEM skid plate.
