Kurtuleas 06-28-2007, 06:26 PM This is a DIRE EMERGENCY!!
If you live in Nor Cal, YOU NEED TO EDUCATE YOURSELF ON THE ROUTE DESIGNATION PROCESS. NOW!!!!
ROUTE DEZ FAQ: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=596279
We stands to lose THOSANDS of miles of trails in ELDO National forest becuase of it. :mad3:
Next next month will be CRITICAL in saving roads, campsites and public access to public lands, and yes, YOU CAN STILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
By this coming monday, I need a head count on how many people in the Bay Area can make a forest service meeting in the Bay Area the week of July 23rd. The forest service will not hold one if I cannot get enough people together. This meeting will inform you on what you can do to keep your favorite campsite or trail open!!!!!
If you can make it, PLEASE post HERE: http://pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=592842
PLEASE RESPOND AND PASS THE WORD!! THE FUTURE OF OUR SPORT IS AT STAKE!!
You know that campsite you have taken your family to for the past 20 years, you could very well be losing it.
Ever done Barret Lake trail? That's on the chopping block too!!!
Got a dirt bike or ATV? You damned well better make this meeting.
Like to hunt, or just drive down fire trails? You better make this meeting!!!
Practically every dead end and spur route, many of which lead to primitive campsites WILL BE CLOSED. (unless you fight for them)
MochaMike 06-28-2007, 09:18 PM Responded to your PM.
Let me know when & where.

We are in!
Cobra5.0Jeep 06-29-2007, 09:13 AM I work for the Forest Service as a firefighter and one thing you can do to keep the campsites and trails open is to PICK UP YOUR TRASH and not leave it all over the area. I did patrol when our engine was down and i couldn't believe all the trash people leave in the campsites, one of the sites looks like someone dumped their house trash. It was gross. i am surprised its legal to camp in the forest after seeing that shit.

While you are right about SOME people that do not leave thier campsites as they found them, that is not what this meeting is about AT ALL.
Fawk you very much for giving ammo to the other side. :flipoff2:
Mbikes2 06-29-2007, 12:07 PM where and when and i there.
About what time will the meeting be held? I should be able to make it if it's not to early. I think they set these meetings up in the middle of the week so most people caint make it. Also about the 45 day comment period, I'm having a hard time coming up with an intelligent comment (happens all the time) What would be the most helpful thing to say?

What say the Brethern?
There will be a meeting closer to you in Sac, you will not have to come all the way down to the Bay Area. Rick (WLDWUN) has more info on that one than I do.
As for what to say during the comment period, that is one reason for attending the meeting. From what I have heard, there is a certain format the Forest Service wants. I know that you cannot just say, "I want this route open" you have to give reasons to have that route open.
Hang the forest service bastards! I'll pm WLDWUN about the meeting up here. I'm getting into this waaay to late but better late than never:shaking:
BibBoy 06-29-2007, 05:04 PM Same shit different day here in Lassen County....

so I pmed WLDWUN trying to find out where this is going to be held at, but so far no responce, anyone know
Kurtuleas 07-01-2007, 05:50 PM We need to prove to the forest service that we have enough people from the Bay Area with interest in attending a meeting first. Once we do that, they will pick the location.
It looks like it's a go, but we would still like (and we need) WAY more people to attend.
We may have a location this coming week....
SCHooch 07-02-2007, 08:01 AM I'll be at the meeting reguardless of where it is. But if you can bring it closer to me, sweet! :grinpimp:
drkhrs925 07-02-2007, 04:41 PM I just joined here for this issue. I like everyone else is busy but let me know in an e-mail where and when and I will try. I would also sugest having some sort of trail maintenence / cleanup commitment setup since that is the number one issue for closing the trails. If someone is willing to step up as a club and maintane them long term they will be more likely to listen.
Rubicrawler 07-02-2007, 05:04 PM I'll be there!
Kevie Ray 07-03-2007, 04:44 AM Kurt,
You know I'll be there if work allows, am responding to move this back to the top.
Congrats on your new job. (If you can call it that you fawker)
OnTheRocks 07-06-2007, 01:47 PM Is it going to matter if Sacramento area guys show up for this? If you just need room filler, then I have 5 that are in. Need specifics. Also, any word on the local meeting?
flips21 07-09-2007, 07:47 PM Add me to the roll call. I will try to recuit others.

ChevyGal 07-14-2007, 02:24 PM Say you can't make it to a meeting but are still following this and wanting to do what you can. How would one wanting to write a letter to show interest and support do so? What I mean is who would they address it to? Just because you can't come to a meeting doesn't mean you can't show support. I'm trying to read through the threads to determine this, but frankly am having a hard time because it seems there is a lot of this person, this group, he is, she is, is doing this or that. Thanks.
colonelmustard 07-16-2007, 06:32 PM I'll be there fo sure in concord on the 2nd.

Read the FAQ in Land use if possible.
What EVERYONE needs to do is make sure we all make comments on SPECIFIC trails and argue for them to be opened during the 45 day public comment period. This starts July 20th. The reason to go to the meeting is to learn how to do this and to find out exactly what the FS wants in the comments.
And remember, 1 group such as FOTR, BRC or even the fawkin Sierra Club has JUST as much say during the comment period as one person. We need a MASS of comments from indiviuals for routes to remain open.

I was just not seeing stuff at first. There was so many threads about this all over I had to put em all together.
The reason like I said I asked was because as much as someone may want to attend a meeting you can't always do it, but you still can say something in writing.
Jeff. 07-18-2007, 07:59 AM I should be at the Folsom meeting.
MochaMike 07-18-2007, 11:46 AM Has anyone made a flier up about the meeting(s)?
Specifically the Concord/PH meeting....
I'd make a few copies & drop it off/post it a few places I frequent.
EDIT: Never mind... I just found this:

007Crawler 08-03-2007, 08:08 AM Mr. I work for the Forest Service, yes sir there are people that leave trash in the forrest just like there are people that rob banks and break other laws........ I call it the 10% rule. Are you insinuating that because 10% of our population break the rules that the other 90% have to suffer for it???
How much of the trash in the forrest did you pick up and haul out ? I've certainly always hauled out more than I hauled in. Who's side are you on any way ??????????

Perhaps it's you that needs to get a clue, fuckstick. Most if not ALL of the people here haul out more than they take in. In fact I doubt like hell that you'd find an avid wheeler anywhere that doesn't. I suppose hikers, hunters, loggers etc. are totally innocent when it comes to shit like this.
And just where in the hell do you come off assuming that it should be illegal for the public to access public land? It's our land, asshat not yours and not the property of any governement agency. It's just your responsibilty to do your jobs to maintain the forests for our use. That is what WE PAY YOU TO DO. You work for us, you live out of our pockets, it is not the other way around. Maybe you should be driving a garbage truck and clean up after others until you get that through your thick fucking skull.
I really and trully can not tolerate goverment assholes with your attitude the live by sucking the taxpayer tit. If I had my way, I put every damn one of you on the street. How about you go read the Constitution and get a friggin clue as to what this country is supposed to be about. Either that of get the fuck out of it and go live in a country where everthing is illegal and verboten until and unless you get permission from the government. How about North Korea? I'll even pay for your one way ticket as long as you promise to stay out of this country forever on penalty of death.
MochaMike 08-03-2007, 09:45 AM It's all covered in Chapter 3.
holger 09-16-2007, 05:44 PM How much of the trash in the forrest did you pick up and haul out ? I've certainly always hauled out more than I hauled in.
I have not seen badly contaminated areas around, but unfortunately I have to haul back from the trails some stuff that is not mine. This is not too bad, but still people leave trash around. I suppose those people are "one-timers", they do not care about the places they visit once.
motownscrambler 02-03-2008, 05:22 PM im in keep me posted!
mechanic mike 03-05-2008, 08:37 AM You piss fir wlliys are a bunch of fucking fags if you think wheelers are totaly responable, or hunters ,[I],m both and yea there bad apples.By and large we pick up a lot more than we bring in so fuck off and finnd a new scape goat for the trash problem and all the other shit you blame us fo !peace from the emerald triangle!

Bigblue70 03-08-2010, 04:56 PM Good luck with the fight down there, us here on the northern ca. coast have already lost most of our battle. No matter how many we had in attendance at the meetings they had all intentions of closing our roads. We lost thousands of miles of roads. Not to mention GOOD 4X4 trails because they were inpassable to passenger cars.
