Anyone have or used one of these? They're about $100 and I could use one if they work decent. I don't need it to take porn quality footage, just need it for a duct inspection job. I need to find a kinked/collapsed return duct on a guys a/c system in a million dollar custom home. Trying to do it with minimal drywall work. I can access one end and I'm thinking take the ballast off and duct tape some pvc pipe of fish tape to the camera and pushing it through the duct to get me an idea of where to cut.

Anyone use one? I guess I could always use it an return it if it's POS too.

DUDE! I feel like such a tool. I live in Minnesota where everyone has one of those to look at the fish not biting their lure in the winter and I never ONCE thought of that idea. I bow down before your infinite wisdom.

While I cannot comment on the jacuzzi usage :grinpimp:, I have used one similar to that - I can't remember the brand name. Anyway, we use it for underwater inspections and the detail is pretty good (especially in turbid water), so I would imagine the detail would be even better in a wall. Does that unit have the built in lights?

But like you said, if it doesn't live up to your expectations, you could always return it....

this link is the same camera has harborfreights set up
http://cgi.ebay.com/Minicam-Pipe-Inspection-System-Camera_W0QQitemZ150136928452QQihZ005QQcategoryZ571 18QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

They had a sewer/drain inspection camera out not to long ago that would probably work better. it was $399 We had a camera at a shop i worked for but it was 4 grand. like all harborfreight you get what you pay for and rarely find that diamond in the rough. the old item number was 93765 you can see if they have one in your local store since its not showing up on the site. I do remember seeing them at the sidewalk sale last month they must have been clearance. also if this is something you are only going to use this once just rent one.
Also how far of a run do you need to make?

Im just throwing this out here as food for thought because I have no personal experience with underwater photography. Some underwater cameras have lenses designed to focus strictly underwater, and thus, will not provide a clear image when they are above water. If thats the case, you might be better served with a USB webcam or a cheap outdoor surveilance camera and just put it on an extended cable. Again, no personal experience with this, but the underwater lens might not provide a clear enough picture for you to see what you want. Good luck, and let us know what you end up doing and how it works!!!

I'm gonna print out a 20% off coupon and grab one. The job is set for the 8th after the guy gets back from Russia. Yes it has several LED's around the lens. I would guess the run is probably 60'. If I look in the return grills up in the 14' ceilings I can see some sort of box as it enters his master closet. Flex only comes in 25' lengths, so there has to be one splice minimum, possibly two in the run. Something somewhere collapsed, taking the door off the air handler while it's running is a bitch it's sucking so hard trying to get air. After spending a couple hours figuring out what caused the thing to ice up, he said he remembered last year getting less air from his vents than before so it's been like this for a while. I've got enough built in to the job that at worse I'll get a yellow paperweight out of it for free. I'll post up results when I get the job done.

The camera we had wasn't a HF one, but it didn't matter above or below water - the picture was still very good.
