i am going to leave dfw at about 9 in the morning. and haul ass up there. i will be in a grey and white fj62 land cruiser with the top cut off. i was going to see about staying at hogans or the state park. mike

are you not bringin the new buggy? or is the FJ what you have been floggin on all week? Im tryin the Hogan approach as well! hope to catch up with some PBBers! :beer:

we just can't finish it in time, still have to mount the rear seat, belts, floor boards, brake system and wire the motor. so we said to hell with it. just going to haul the kiddie hauler up there and drink lots of beer and watch. we ran on 4 hrs sleep a night for a week and just got rumdumb, last teusday night we threw in the towel. just couldn't think straight. mike

Sounds like pretty straight thinking! Gotta know when enough is too much!

First post- newbie to the board but not the sport.

Quite a few of the west coast guys are coming. This one's close to home for me. It's all inwhere they put the cones but I suspect the courses will favor the longer wheelbases and rear steer. There's things i know can be finessed with the rear steer that will be a bch with 10 backups.

Last i knew not to many locals entering (including the WMS guys who i would love to see compete)

look me up and say Hi- i'm camping at Hogans, will get there around 2Pm- look for the SB black dodge towing the 40' fifth wheel Jeep hauler.

i am thinking it will not truly favor the long wheel base guys, just because b f goodrich is a major sponser and the biggest tire they make is a 37. so i think to keep the the big sponsers happy they must be able to compete. mike

Mike, I forgot about that angle, my 37's and 99" wb should be very happy then!

There's a phrase around here call "Sumner'n" (named in honor of John ;) ). It's what you see when John/Mark/Casey tries to make sharp turns in a rig with over 10 foot wheelbase. :rasta:
In competition it's called "2 points"... "2 points"..."2 points" .... etc..... :D :D

I'll be out there Friday evening (probably 6:30 ish).

Jayson (from Claremore) will be competing with his Sami in open class, and Danny Cloud will be spotting for him. It's Jayson's first competition, but Danny has done several comps before. It should be interesting. :)

As an offer to competators. I have a garage with a small machine shop at the house ~45 min away (lathe, mill, BIG Tig, & lots of material). If you get desperate Saturday night, look me up (white/blue Sami, ext cage). I'm expecting a late night, and don't mind helping out anyone I can, with one condition.... I'm there to support Jayson, so his stuff comes first (hopefully that won't be necessary). If I can't help you, there's a good chance someone in our group knows someone who can. If you can't find me, look for Steve in the BIG YELLOW Blazer (rockwells, 44's)... He's real hard to miss... :)

Man if you got all that in your garage, I may raid your place just to get my junk done for the end of the summer rides. I can't even think about competing, but with that setup......
