I'm going to look at an 84 Wagoneer tomorrow. It's got leather seats, a V6 and 135,000 miles. That's about all i know about it right now. i'm buying a car just to use for 2 months over the summer and then sell in august...it won't be off the pavement. What should i look for? What would be a good price if it's in decent condition? I think the guy wants about 1600 for it.
Thanks,
Steve

considering it's a 2.8, you'll be lucky if it runs in two months. and you'll never make up what you'll spend on oil.
1 quart with every tank of gas, no shit. blew up 4 of them before i got smart and got a 4.0

HEY OFFROAD35!!!
Do you have a digi-cam?!? Do you know anymore about the Waggie than what you have listed so far? I have a '76 FSJ Chero myself. IS this Waggie you are looking at the FSJ or the newer smaller version? I forget when they went down to the smaller size rig. Anyways, post up here or email me direct and I'll help you out as best as I can. If it works out well I may be in the market to buy around the time you are ready to sell.

The V6 tells you it is the Cheerokee based Waggoneer and since it is an 84 it is also the first year for the XJ Waggoeer..
For local around stuff it should be ok.. The 2.8 V6 they put in those is really underpowered.. If I remember correctly the 4cyl has almost as much HP and Torque as the V6

The owner pays you to take it.
Seriously, I'd steer clear of the 2.8 V6, I have never heard anything good about it, and for that price you should be able to find an older XJ with the 4 cyl. or 4.0 either of which would be better than the 2.8

I'm thinking of looking at a 82 waggy today, and the guy said it was a six, but didn't say weather or not it was a streight or a V. I'm not going to bother if it's a V6, but if it's a streight six I think it might be worth it since it runs and is only $500....any sujestions?

An '82 would be a full size w/ 258 straight 6.
