gonna put the better of the 2 options on a buddies YJ , he has stiff pro comp springs and is looking for more flex.

we can go either way, just need to know which is better and where to put what, what setup should we go with on the front?
thanks,
pics and any input would help.

Neither. Take the procrap off and do it right. :smokin:

The simple answer is buggies would be more dependable and be better for flex. You need to have equalized flex front and rear tho(not perfectly equal but close). If you've got a rear suspension that will drop away 10" and a front that will move 2" you've still got problems.
There are much better ways to do it, but unlike some of the hard heads I know your buddy doesn't want to go throw his springs away. I'm running coilovers in the front and a type of scissor shackle in the rear. There is a whole big argument on how uncontrolled droop doesn't help you(like revolvers or hyper shackles). I was a big subscriber to this. However, after I installed my 16" travel coilovers up front I needed to equalize the flex in the rear a little bit. As a quick fix I made some hyper shackles with the intention of swapping them out and going 1/4 elip rear or something else. But, I really like my set up now. What the hyper shackles did was allow the front and rear suspension to work together. A more equalized suspension will be more stable in the rocks and what not.
What I'm saying is address the whole suspension at a time. Don't just throw some revolvers on the back end and call it good.

broncorob , do you have pics of the shackles you made?
like you said he need a simple and reasonable solution, and i'm thinking buggies in the rear and the shackles up front, pics of yours would help alot!!
thanks man.
good to get a productive answer.;)

Ask a moderator if you think I'm blowing smoke about cross posting.

I'm in favor of neither. I've run revolvers F&R and have realized the problems they present first hand. But boy do they look good on a ramp:rolleyes: . Have seen buggies work for flex, but also seen the problems they present. Give the JU crowd a few years to catch up and Tera will discontinue Revolvers (IMO).

SOA, bottom line

After running buggies and looking at other rigs I am gonna take em off when I get a chance. Like they said do it right with good springs, or go to a link system.

if he has to do one of the 2, then id go with buggies. but really, he would be better off going soa with some softer springs, it would hancle better and be alot more stable.

I traded a XJ for the YJ I have now to build it up..it had procraps on it when I got it....

they were so stiff that it would only ramp a 300 !!

anyways-best fix is to take out a leaf or two and just trim the body to match...(I assume he has a 4 inch lift and 33 ish tires for somereason?)

if they are 2 inchers spring over it and they will rock..

yeah it's the 4" and he has 33x12.50s, and i think we'll look at getting rid os one or 2 of the leafs and then add the buggies in the rear and maybe the shackles on the front(still undecided)... i think the Pro comp stuff is over built to prevent sag so its way too stiff!
thanks the input really helps!
