The hp44 I just picked up has three different head markings on the four bearing cap bolts. They're all grade 5, but from different manufacturers. My guess is that "farmer Joe," who had the axle before me, must have worked on this rearend at one time and threw whatever bolts he had lying around into it.

The only other axles I have are buttoned up and I don't feel like cracking them open just to see what grade bolts are in them.

Are bearing cap bolts typically grade 5 or should I throw in some grade 8's?
