I have decided to get a MM 180. Who has the best deal? I am even open to refurbs.
The best deal I have found iss $775 delivered from welders direct
Thanks for the help.

What is the warranty on the refurb from ToolKing?
I'd buy a Hobart Handler HH187 refurb from ToolKing. 519.00 + 7.99 shipping
IMHO, not enough feature on the MM180 to justify the cost over this deal. HH187 is an excellent welder. Works well in all 7 tap settings.
Variable voltage is no big deal, since I prefer tap voltage settings.

I believe the warranty is 3 years from the manufacture date. You'll need to contact ToolKing to verify.
Nope. It's still the same factory 5/3/1 warranty.

Unless you have a huge account with a welding store, I find that the best prices on new and used are on eBay and eBay stores.

I really like the specs on the Hobart 187 and I will be picking on up within the next month, could someone please post a pic of the plug so I know what to wire the garage for? Thanks

I found the best price online, then took it to my local Airgas store and they matched it. They also gave me a great deal on a 25 ft extension cord, wire, etc... Plus, if I need it serviced, I bought it locally and they should be more willing to help out.

I ran 8-2 to my HH187. The minimum for a dedicated circuit to that particular welder is 12-2, but 10-2 will make a home inspector happier.

i was planning on doing that but after paying tax from the local airgas it would be quite a bit more than buying online.

Yea, but its more important what size breaker you run on that circuit, granted 12-2 the most you should run is 20A and 10-2 is 30A if your ran 8-2 I'm assuming you used a 40 amp breaker.

Wrong.
You need to read Article 630 of the NEC.

Unfortunately I don't have access to a NEC code book right now so please enlighten me. I'm assuming this has to do with 230v vs 110v?

When I wired up my shop, I went above and beyond NEC code since I consider NEC code to be the bare minimum requirement.
And in some cases a bit retarded.

Check with both:
http://www.cyberweld.com and
http://www.weldingsuppliesfromioc.com
Both offer free shipping and their prices are competitive. If you can find a better deal at a local place...Go for it. Remember: You need a tank and gas.
