i dont know the exact size but you can just go to autozone and they sell them, make sure it says for a 1ton truck, i was lucky enough to get oneside off that was hand tight and just brought that one up there to match it up

I have what sounds like the same axle from a '78 W200. Mine took a 2-9/16" hex, and I had to order it from Carquest (didn't find any in town). Hope this helps.

EDIT: It is an OTC socket. I've had good luck with their tools.
