I have posted two other times dealing with a Mean Green alternator install. I have run into a brick wall with this. I have a dealer ad on A/C unit that is where the stock position of the alternator should be. The old alternator was under the compressor on the left side of the engine. I need to run a dual pulley alternator to run my water pump, because I have desmoged the truck due to the smog pump failing I have spent two days in 95 degree and 98% humidity (hotter than hell for early july) trying to come up with a solution. I have posted on several sites, sent emails to about 40 people with FJ60's no responce... I guess I have stumped everyone with this one. If anyone needs to see pics of what I am talking about, I can send them. Thanks for looking and if you have any solutions, guesses or leads, let me know. Thanks:confused:

Why not just mount the alternator where the old air pump was? It might require some customization of the brackets, but it should be do-able, especially with small a Delco 1 wire unit. I don't see why you would need two pulleys in this location.

The other thing you could do is mount an idler pulley where the old smog pump was just to tension the water pump belt and run the alternator where it is now.

I was thinking of that too, I was going to try and put the stock unit there, but the power steering pump is in the way. I have also been waiting on this M.G. unit since early April. It has been on back order that long! And I need to upgrade the electrical system for later ad ons. I might be able to build a new bracket... I am not a welder(yet) but I along with my neighbor(he has a mig) might be able to make one. I am just itching to get my rig back on and off the road.

If the PS pump interferes, dump the smog bracket and make a new alternator bracket with 1 inch angle stock. It will drop it down about 2 inches so you have enough room for a small case alternator.
