H3 power

Been out test driving rigs with the Wife. Test drove a 07 H3, auto, adventurer package equipped. The Wife and I liked just about everything about the H3, except the power. There was NONE.
Yes, I know it is the 3.7, not the 3.5, and it was a total dog. :(
Are they really that bad?

I did check into the supercharger for them, but that is a stupid price too.

I know the Alpha is due soon, but Jesus, are they really that underpowered?
I am still shocked.

So, is there a reasonable power remedy for the H3?
Also, what is the real mileage you guys with the 07 auto are getting? I am not really concerned with the mileage as we are Environmentally Indifferent. :D
I just have a hard time believing a rig that underpowered could get 16 and 20.

I'd wait for the Alpha. You not only get the V8, but also a much stronger front diff housing.

I am well aware of the Alpha and its improvements. Just interested in real world facts with this current model. I am not afraid to mod the 3.7 within reason. Havn't found much mod's for it yet though..

There are PCM upgrades that will increase horsepower/torque on the 3.7 H3.

There are K&N Intakes, which some have used and like, others have had no increase in power. Definitely not an option if you wheel. CAI is standard so that one doesn't make too much of a difference.

Corsa exhaust seems to be the favorite, there are a few others.

The transmission is smart....meaning it will adjust shift points to your driving habits, mine seems to have plenty of power before I added 35's and a few hundred lbs of gear. Now it's a little slow, but the power seems to be there for me when I need it.

I have an 80 series Land Cruiser that really sucks on both gas and power, so I guess I don't really notice it that much.

I do get 17 hwy with 35's and full gear, I did get 20 regularly before I added the 35's.

Good info. The one I drove seemed to have no power reserve above normal throttle. It made more noise and had higher revs when at full throttle, but no noticeable increase in power. I know sometimes vehicles will run better after break in though. This was a new vehicle.

I've had a couple of loaner adventure models. Lets just say they went back to the dealership a little peppier than when they left.

A heavy-ish foot for about 3 days usually takes care of it, but it really sucks the gas:D

I just checked with HP Tuners. They support the 3.7 pcm. That is great news. I have used LS1 edit for years and HP Tuners is easier to use. That is the PCM editor to use. I feel much better now as I can write a tune for the 3.7 and tune it for max power running premium fuel. That will be a huge help.
Also unlimited tranny control too.

We will do limited wheeling with it as it will be the Wife's DD. It WILL get wheeled though. :) Just no beating on it.
