Was thinking of putting the Tonka's old xd9000i warn on the new (to me) Disco and putting a new xd9000i on a multi-mount on the Tonka - it's a cradle that slides into a standard 2" reciever. I thought I could put a reciever on the trailer as well. Then, it would sit normally on the front, could be moved to the back if needed and as has from time to time been necessary, could be powered off the Dodge to winch the Tonka on the trailer if required.
Anyone have experience of the multi-mount? Other than that it may be quite awkward to fit it to a rear reciever when it most needs it, any other thoughts ?

A buddy in Lebanon had an 8000 Ramsey on one and all I can say is walking in deep mud with two grown men carring that heavy thing slipping left, right and center was a nice sight :flipoff2:
I think a multi-mount sounds great on paper but is impracticle...why not invest in the (yet) more affordable T-max winches...I used on and it SERIOUSLY isn't bad...

I had to pivot my Disco out of a quagmire in the Adirondacks last weekend stuck between a buried stump and a tree right against my front bumper, I would not have wanted to make those multiple sideways pulls against a receiver hitch. The high angle pulls would make me nervous off of a plug in receiver hitch.
The multimount would have been on the Tonka and would have sat in much the same place on the breakfast as my current, but anyway I'm convinced. No multi-mount. Thanks for the input.
KB - you still on for the 13th/14th ?

'if required' = 'every time the tonka goes out' :flipoff2:
