Looking at this dry cut saw. http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_6970_200326857_200326857
I have a coupon that'll get it to about $260 delivered. Anybody know anything about them?

It cuts pretty well, loud as hell, chips fly everywhere, metal can get hot just depends on how thick it is, still needs to be deburred and the vice adjustment wheel will break as soon as you look at it.
We used it for a while but with our cold saw and bandsaws it hardly sees any use anymore. Sometimes its really nice to have it.
I would say get a cold saw.

Yea, but there's a BIG difference between $260 and $550.
I already use an abrasive chop saw. I just happened across the saw above and wondered what is was like. The reviews on the website say the same thing about the vise on it.

I bought a dry cut saw and I don't really like it for the money I gave for it. It was around $515 and the blades wear out to fast. The replacement blades are about $90 and I have to oredr them. A regular old abrasive chop saw is better bang for the buck to me.

for lots of solid stock, big stuff and bandsaw is much better. For quick little cuts on angle, bar or round and tube or for mitered cuts they really arnt bad. but you have to be careful cutting miters, the blade loves to walk.

I know I can cut a sliver out of a piece of 1.75" tube that is no thicker than a 1/16" all the way down, try that with an abrasive blade :D
