I tried to search, but all I receive is a database error.......

Will a stock rear driveshaft from a TJ Sport (AX-15 with D35) fit into a stock YJ with what I assume is an AX-5 tranny (4 banger). We know that the YJ has a D35. There is 900 miles between the two Jeeps, so I can't just walk outside and give it a try. If the yoke is different, can I swap the YJ yoke to the TJ shaft?

Unless either are modified, both Jeeps should have a NP231 transfercase with a slip yolk that will slide into eachother.

Also depends on if the TJ has a rear D44 or a D35c that might have the DS longer or shorter.

Only sure fire way is to take out the measuring tape.

The 231 is true. They should be the same. But you have to remember the YJ has leafs and the TJ coils. The axles are more than likely not the same wheelbase. Go to a machine shop and ask them to shorten / lengthen your current one, it isn't expensive.

You appear to be correct. If me and the YJ owner are measuring from same spot to same spot, the YJ driveshaft appears to be 2 inches longer than the TJ driveshaft. The YJ shaft is toast and I am trying to help the guy out by giving him my stock driveshaft from my TJ.

**EDIT** We just confirmed that the YJ driveshaft is about 2 inches longer than the TJ shaft. Everything else appears to be about the same.

Wheelbases are the same, likely engine placement or different trannies is to blame for the difference of 2".

My TJ has the 4.0L, the 231, and the AX-15 tranny. The YJ has a 2.5L, AX-5, and 231 TC. I wonder if our results would have been different if the YJ had a 4.0L, AX-15, and 231 TC.

Ah, but that was discussed in message #1 :p The YJ is 938 miles away :p
However, I didn't know about the seal design. Good information, Thanks.
