What is your experience with some of the campbell/ hausfield air tools? Looking at the cutoff wheel and 3/8" impact? I want better than harbor freight and I dont use them enough to justify snapon quality, so what is medium duty? There are a few in the clearance bin at walmart for $35-40 that started at $45-50 that I was considering.

1/2 impact - it works, it hasn't had a problem. But it doesn't work as good as the husky.

3/8 air ratchet works well enough

Most of the CH air tools are HF quality. That being said, I love my CH Ironforce impact wrench. It works beyond my expectations.

I forgot to say that. yeah it works, but it's not strong at all.

Don't buy a 3/8 impact wrench. Don't shop at Walmart (http://www.americaneconomicalert.org/view_art.asp?Prod_ID=933). Buy 1/2". As others have said, the CF is HF quality. I have the $39 Ironforce from Lowes and it has been awesome.

Both of my C/H 1/2 impacts purchased at home depot are useless. It's die grinder cousin fell apart on me.

i know theses models are probably alot more pricey than the CH that you are looking at, but atleast they would be useable:

also, the harbor freight earthquake can be had for around 80.00, if you watch the sale ads. right now they are 99.00, but the go on sale for cheaper

if you dont mind spending the money, ingersol rand or aircat make nice, powerful impacts. i have an aircat, and it works great

I have the IR 2135ti, which is badass but pricey. The Aircat should be comparable and less $$. The HF earthquake on sale with a 20% off coupon is probably your best bet on the cheap, but I wouldn't cheap out on a 1/2" impact. If I'd read the review on this board between the IR and Aircat before I bought mine, I'd have went with the Aircat.

as with any tools, you get what you pay for.

Well, sometimes. And sometimes you only need so much tool. Pay for what you need. That being said, I am very happy with my CH Ironforce 1/2" impact from Lowes. If I had to buy another 1/2 in the same price range, I would buy the HF Earthquake.

If I could have any gun and price wasn't a consideration, I would get the Nitrocat by Aircat.

IR guns are made in China just like everyone else's nowadays.... :shaking:

CH 3/8" air ratchet works good enough.

IR TI 1/2" impact is what I use for the tough stuff.

Strange i think the same tools at walmart in canada are going to 20 - 35... I thought the prices would have been cheeper across the border

As stated above, you definately get what you pay for. I laughed when I first tried using a CH impact.

Save your money, campbell/hausfield sucks. Poor torque so you'll end up getting out the breaker bar anyway. At that point you may as well use a rachet.

Never used the impacts but both the die grinders I bought have worked great for 3 years. I have used the crap out of them & they still won't die. I oil them religiously though.

For airtools i always go to pawn shops. You can get IR/Snapon/etc. cheaper than new CH.

With that said, ive had a few CH tools.

1/2" impact- worthless

cutoff wheel- 10 years old and works fine

die grinders- 5 yrs. old and work fine

3/8" ratchet- so/so

Try ebay, or the local snap on man see if he has trade ins and wave cash in his face, he'll come down on the price. If you just want something middle of the road try an older style steel IR, about $100 IIRC, I belvie maxttool.com has them as well. The the top of the line is really IR or Chicago Pneumatic and from the review I read Air Cat is right up there. I personally hate cheap tools, I like going to my box knowing my stuff will perform every time and not let me down. When I used to work on cars the other techs would always grab my gun when theirs wouldn't get shit loose.
