my bronco2 has 180,000 miles on it with no rebuild. i rebuilt the tranny at 150,000 and it does good but when i put foot to floor while towing its like it loses power and then comes back at around 2500 rpms it is stock with 30" ats. What could the problem be. also how do i get the tranny to not shift as hard.

the loss in power might just be the motor, i have a 5spd and mine seems to do the same but usually only a few mins after ive started it. to make it shift smoother you can try Lucas auto transmission fix.

B2's arent really designed for towing heck my fullsize wouldnt tow that well either. I'm gonna say its more than likely a engine mileage and older tranny issue both acting out at the same time.

the timing was 10* retarded so i put it 2* advanced now its back to beating hondas.

i might be wrong cuz i dont know if 10* retarded is normal or off, but if 10* is normal you should do some more research. it might be something else and advancing your timing might just be curing your symptoms and not your problem

Yeah, 10 degrees advanced. Check the timing with the spout disconnected...
