I do just about all my own work but gear installs are the one thing I haven't take on yet. The primary problem is specialized tools. You need a dial style inch pound torque wrench ($200), a press ($300?) and different accessories for the press ($100), etc. I've had 4 R&Ps installed so far and I'm still ahead of where I'd be if I bought the tools and did it myself.
