: Fuel cell - Stupid questions
GloNDark 06-07-2002, 08:26 AM I ordered my 20 gallon aluminum Fuel cell last night. And the guy at summit asked if I need any Fuel cell tip valves.
WTF is a fuel cell tip valve? Obviously, it keep the gas from pouring in the event of a roll but where does it go? Supply line? Return line? Vent lines??
SeaBass44 06-07-2002, 08:32 AM I think on the vent......but hey why not ask him when he asked you:p :p :p lol, Com Awn! & yes you want one;)
It screws into the top of the tank. *Or atleast the one I seen did* I think it was $25 for a roll over valve.
should go on your vent line.. I just run a pcv valve on mine, its alot cheaper and works great.

Our ball check valve closes if the car rolls to help prevent fuel leakage and possible fire. Fits most fuel cells with -8 AN fittings.
It does screw into the top of the tank. It's only 16.99 from summit:D
Part number SUM-G3114
Actually the best way to run a rollover valve is put a vent line on with a little loop in it. I prefer to run a vent line with mine anyway, cause you can get it up higher and tucked away..
GloNDark 06-07-2002, 08:54 AM I did ask him seabass. The dumb fawk couldn't tell me shit about it. Figures. I felt like I was talking to a guy a kragen for a second.
 So I passed on. But Summit is only a hour away anyway, so next time I am up there I will snag one. For now I will run the vent line with a loop in it.
THANKS!
:D:D:D

higher, wouldn't that be lower in a roll over then:flipoff2:
An old stock car racing trick is to use a pcv valve in the vent line for a rollover valve.
rokryder 06-07-2002, 10:55 AM Did you get the metal encased fuel cell? If so its already installed... They did the same thing to me. I think I ended up giving the extra tip valve I had ordered to Ray.

Dam! I can't believe how many times I've heard people ask about roll over valves and this is the first time I've heard this one. Nice simple inexpensive trick! :D :D

And just think..... You have me to thank for refering you to this thread.
I guess that just about disables your last attempt to avoid the July ERoCC competition.

thats where I saw it on my brothers race car.
and GloNDark you dont want to run just a looped vent line you want to slap that pcv valve on the end of the line then you your done.. you dont need no fancy valve.

It's actually a one piece aluminum cell. It has 2 less gallons then the cell your running but it was waaaaaay cheaper. hahaha Look at that, even when I spend $200 I end up being a cheap bastard. hahaha

Hmm... SOB :D Public arm twisting now: :flipoff2: :D :)
Hayraker 06-07-2002, 02:45 PM I use a vent line that runs up, then down, then a loop, then a pcv valve.
I haven't rolled it, but one advantage of the vent hose is no fuel sloshes out when on the trail.
4x4extreme 06-07-2002, 06:01 PM I put a line from the tip over valve and ran it under the jeep in case of a roll over it would stay in and drain back to the tank when flipen back over

That seems like a idea, but I wheel in too much water and mud so I figured rasing mine up was a better bet so I dont pull in any water in my vent line...
