: Air Con for a 300 TDI

Guys:
My 300TDI did not come with A/C. I've put this motor in a '95 Classic and intended to use the original A/C compressor from the V8 motor, mounted to the top of the timing case where it is supposed to go.
I spent several hours over the weekend trying to make it work, but the V8 compressor is just too tall to fit under the hood.
Is the stock 300TDI type compressor used on any other Land Rover applications that are available locally, or am I going to have to source one from the U.K. ?

Cheers,
Andy

P.S. I'm in So Cal.

That really sucks, I did not realise that they sourced a different compressor. I've been planning to put mine on the 200Tdi for on-board air.

It fits when I do it. Try again.

Is your compressor off the V8 engine a Sanden?
I got my SD709 from a scrapper,30€,out of a saloon car.
Same as the O.E. fitted to 300 Tdis, and fits fine under the D90 hood.

Alternatively don't shut the hood

Thanks for the replies guys. Good news. Last night I took a look at the compressor on my other truck, a 94 classic. Looks like it's the same type as the OEM 300TDI as it has the hose connections at the rear, not on the top, making it about 2" shorter. I just need to find a used one and swap the pulley.
I'll let you know how it goes.
