700AP pinzgauer ???
What does it look like ?
To my ear, 700AP would be the little (but older) bro of the pinzgauer : The "haflinger". (rear engine, flat-twin fiat 650...)
Yes it was buit by steyr-puch in Austria, too, in the late 60s from memory.
(Pingauers are earlier 710 4x4 & 712 6X6 with drums and 4cyl 2.5 aircooled, newer 714 4x4, 716 6x6 with discs and 6cyl turbodiesel from VW...)
All haflinger and pinzauer are very desirable trucks in my opinion btw

Thank you VERY much!!....
I had never seen a 700ap before... It's VERY small and VERY light..
And your right, a 649cc air cool'd motor.. That's where the problem is.. He's try'n to find the last few OEM motor parts for it....
ONCE AGAIN THANK YOU for the leads....:)

Tin,
It's a haflinger, then, not a pinzgauer.
As far as engine goes, it's basically the same as some early FIAT, I think the 126 has the exact same engine, but couldn't swear.
If you find the matching FIAT model, you find the matching parts...
Though part availability for micro FIAT may not be easy out there...
Were thes car only imported then ?
Man I wish I had one of these toys. I was about to buy a complete car minus body once, but wouldn't have time to work on it then... TOO BAD !
They are said to perform like crazy offroad, and climb trees. this thing is LIGHTWEIGHT !
(Are we turning off-topic on this ? No, because Mercedes Gwagens are designed and built by steyr-puch, Mercedes only brings the engine and emblem... anyway.)

pinz's were actually manufactured in a 6x6 format.
Great little trucks, and the halfingers are really nice too......hmm may have to use one of them on my next hybrid truck.
wow this BB never cease to amaze me. regardless of how far fetched the question the answer always seems to be there. :)

Dnno what you meant, but Yes, Pinzgauers were manufactured in 4x4 (with 2 coils on each rear wheel) and 6x6 (one leaf pack for the 2 wheels on each side)
but the picture shows a 6x6 haflinger conversion.
I love that machine !

You are correct. I was assuming you meant pinz's not half's. I apologize.

No offense taken, really...
Look at the size of the bucket seat compared to the whole truck...
Looks like a big nice toy...
This one seems to have a solid axle conversion, though... WHY ?

:flipoff2: I think a SAS on a haflinger is nonsense :
-the thing is beautifully engineered and I like it the way it is
(sealed swing axles, mech. difflocks)
-converting to solid means you have to change the diffhousings, which basically hold the tube frame altogether with the body.
thus, a SAS involves :
-swapping the wole drivetrain
-swapping the frame
-altering the engine mount and the tranny, which is meant to bolt on the rear housing
-plus you don't have portals with reduction gears anymore
-> you'd have to put a reduction box for acceptable low gears (no transfer on this, just a superlow crawler first)
...
You'd have to swap everything...
For what ?
-increased weight :barf:
-higher COG :barf:
-reduced ground clearance :barf:
-bastardinzing a piece of art. :barf: :barf: :barf:
I mean this car is already an offroad champion, it woa designed for that vey purpose. It's small, lightweight, has lockers.... You don't really need that much articulation (which is already fair with the swing axles...)
I think swapping to SAS would be worse for offroading....
Mmm.. This got me thinking : maybe those 6x6 and 8x8 with solid axles have nothing haflinger in them 'cept from the bodyshell.
haflinger-look-a-like proto ????

Tin,
Do yourself a favor... BUY IT !
A few years ago I would have bought a complete minus body haflinger for that price. I had no time or money then, so I didn't do it :crybaby2:
Now if I was in NA, I'd buy this one for that price at once :D
This is a nice piece of engineering from the 60s, and a offroad truck much more capable than many purpose-built rigs.
Plus it doesn't take that much more room in the garage :D

I had thought about it REALLLLL hard.
If I didn't have 11 incomplete rigs lay'n in the Shop right now, I'd jump on it! True, only 2 of the rigs are MINE, BUT I think my customers would get more than a little upset if I was Work'n on my junk insted of theirs...LOL:D

You aren't obliged to work on it right now. Just work on it when you are bored with BIG stuff. You could even suspend it down you ceiling if you really don't have a litle room on the floor...
A good condition haf' should be worth much more than $1k BTW...
