: Should I sell the 60?
NorCal60 07-12-2007, 11:39 AM I'm thinking about putting the 60 up for sale but I'm on the fence about this.
It's mostly stock with 180k on the clock and an OME lift, 33x10.5 BFG MT's and ARB Bumper.
The PS pump needs to be replaced(would come w/ new pump), exhaust leak(gasket included), new cooling and heater hoses, A/C needs to be recharged, leaky rear brake cylinders(have new ones), Clutch master and slave cylinders to be replace(have new ones), etc.
I've been a bad owner.:shaking:
I'm just not sure if I should sell or keep her.
For those familiar with my wagon, what do you feel would be a fair asking price should I decide to go through with this?
Flame away!
Tom
orangefj45 07-12-2007, 12:25 PM quit fawking around! pull that rig in the garage this sunday and start wrenching. most of the work needing to be done should take you a weekend to accomplish.
slacker! :flipoff2:
btw; thanks for the help with the 45!
my recent experience...
if you are thinking hard enough about selling to pose the question...
then yes, you should sell.

um, X2... Unless you want better gas mpg.
woooody 07-12-2007, 01:17 PM Dump it -- buy an 80. It's the next logical progression
Rockzar 07-12-2007, 01:37 PM it needs more triangulation! :flipoff2: oh, were not talking about rollcages?
I don't remember what your 60 looks like, but it sounds like you might eek out 6k?
My question is- how much cash will you have to spend on your next rig? If youre just going to sell it for another rig of the same type, with the same amount to spend, then you might as well fix what you have. Once its fixed, you wont have to work on it again for another bunch of years unless the motor goes.
An 80 or Fourrunner would be great if you want another wagon with a little more plush ride, but you might need to spend more cash. I think that in the rigs for under 10k range, most will come with some kind of trouble in the near future.
sorry- not much help.. :D
cheers!

the way it sits?! no friggen way. not trying to dump on tom's ride but i'd say maybe $4-5k tops. unless he fixes a bunch of crap on it before selling it.
mean man michael 07-12-2007, 03:13 PM Greenfox and I are down to help get your junk going. I think we all live pretty close to each other. :)

65SWB45 07-12-2007, 09:28 PM If you took your rig out and enjoyed it more for its intended purpose, you wouldn't be asking this question. Seriously. Unless you are giving up on the idea of wheeling, you ain't gonna find ANYTHING more worthy of wheeling for what you're likely to cash out of your rig.
If you want to wheel, KEEP THIS RIG!
If this isn't clear enough, I'll be by for the full lecture shortly!:flipoff2:

2F power and all that weight makes it a P.I.G.
Sell it and get an 80 or dump lots of money into it and get some power.

Actually, in my not so humble opinion, that award goes to the FJ62. Having had both a 60 and a 62 I can say that the 62 was the slowest, noisiest, most uncomfortable vehicle I have ever owned. A total dog.

Shit Nolan, a 60 with a TBI Chevy swap is a sweet rig.

I agree, and I would still take a 62 over a 60. The power is even less, but at least it has fuel injection.
I like a 60 with a V8......

Great logic; less power, but it has fuel injection :shaking: I thought about putting a vee eight in mine but figured the cost too high considering it would have to be smog legal. If ya want to wheel a wagon, don't waste your time with a 60; go 80 series; much cheaper to make into a decent wheeler. The cost of a mid 90's 80 is cheaper than doing a motor swap in a 60.

It is honestly one of the best rigs I have ever owned. I have owned a shit load of cars over the years somewhere around 30 Land Cruisers, and when it comes to a very durrable, versatile rig there is not much that comes close. For mild wheeling, camping, hauling a lot of shit into the middle of nowhere, hard to beat. I would be the first to agree that they are a total dog, that is true. Take the FJ60 I have in Australia, what rig can pack enough camping gear for 3 people, food, water, tools, spair parts and still have enough fuel to go 700 miles on shitty washed-out, your shit breaks down and you are screwed roads? Just my o2 :flipoff2: want me to keep going:D

I didn't buy the 60 for the horsepower or acceleration or gas mileage. I bought a Landcruiser because they're solid and dependable:smokin:.
Hell, even with 4½ Years of neglagence under my ownership she has never let me down.
It would be nice to have a more powerful engine but I'll take torque over horsepower any day.
Now, if only I could afford a diesel.:D

It'll take multiple Sunday's to get it all done. Once Mike and I get the garage organized and get some tires on project creampuff then everything will run more smoothly and I won't be as stressed-out about getting the work done.
cheers!:beer::beer::beer:
