: Superduty question?
Blazerman1 10-10-2001, 04:57 PM I just picked up a new superduty for my tow rig and wanted to know what you guys are using for a leveling kit or lift? What is the ride like? Is it that much stiffer or does it ride smoother? I'm not sure which way to go yet.
Thanks for the help!

They just don't mix.
I wanted a leveling kit when I got mine. But after towing a few large loads with a tongue hitch it leveled out perfect.
It rides OK for a 3/4 ton. (4wd) But tows and pulls (not to mention rides) alot better than my 1 ton Chevy. (2wd)
If you are gonna use it as a tow rig I would leave it alone.
Just my opinion.

Nanuk 10-10-2001, 08:22 PM Trust me I know, I am a die-hard, or is that dead, Bow-Tie freak.
I just couldn't see all that $$$$ towards a first year (unproven) truck. Duramax that is.
NE-RokToy 10-10-2001, 08:48 PM I wouldnt get a leveling kit unless you are looking to have it nose high while your really using it. Like all trucks they sit ass high so its level when your getting your moneys worth putting it to work. Also keep your eye on the brakes our work truck eats them very fast but it spent its first year towing a lawnservice trailer around 6 days a week. Still they wore faster then what we normally see
Domenic 10-10-2001, 10:15 PM 6" lift and 35's work great Enjoy your

Yea, it would look good but how's the ride.

ONETUFF76 10-10-2001, 11:47 PM 6" and only 35's!?! What's the matter with you man!? You can fit 38's with 6"! I saw one with a 2.5" kit that looked like it could have easily fit 35's! lol if you're gonna go big, get the meat to!!!
clc900 10-11-2001, 06:02 AM Just curious what kind of deal foerd gave you. I am currently looking at a 2001 SD supercab. Powerstroke, 4x4, auto. Sticker is $36,700. I can get it for $31,500 with 2.9% financing which for 5 years with $0 down is $605 a month.

Jason M 10-11-2001, 07:49 AM Why get a lift? There are a set of fender flares out there that allow you to run 37" tires without any lift!
Btw, I leave my tow vehicle alone. It gives me less of an impulse to wheel it when the cruiser is not doing well......

RE:Todd 10-11-2001, 11:44 AM You also might want to post this at Ford Diesel Page (http://www.ford-diesel.com).

Yeah, don't do that. Couple guys around here did & the tires look WAY too small for the truck. They need at LEAST 37's to make it look right. Another guy did the "leveling" kit on an F350 SRW & runs 305/85R16's (narrow 36's) Coyote's on the stock rims. THAT truck looks just right IMO.

I got the same thing for $29,500 for 4 years at 0.9 financing. That was $8,000 less than the chevy I had on order.

Blazerman1 10-12-2001, 11:24 PM Somebody on this board must have a lifted superduty!
Somebody!

pigpen62 10-13-2001, 12:46 AM Ok, superlift 6" with 37inch Goodyear's. Go with the all spring setup. I have the diesel. It rides great, couldn't ask for anything else. As for towing I have towed my boat,,,, no problems. I have hauled about 2500lbs in my 250. Very little sag.
Goodluck
LndBbrzr 10-13-2001, 07:18 AM Ive got an 01 Xcursion PSD that runs an 8" Skyjacker all spring setup with 39" Mickey Ts.If its going to be a street truck that occasionally tows definately invest in some Rancho 9000s. Being able to adjust them as the springs softened have made it ride ALOT better than stock.I did have to get a CV D line from Jess at High Angle though.Recently I towed a 88 Chevy Ext Cab 1ton dually with it. Very little sag, rode pretty decent and definately had the power to pull it up the hills. MPG was pretty good to. Figuring its a 8k lb rig with 39s on it with an 8" lift towing 7500+ lbs for 500 miles over 2 steep passes at 65 mph it avg 12 mpg.( It was regeared to 456s though) Same trip with no truck on the trailer doing 70+ was 16 mpg.
Crowdog 10-13-2001, 07:24 AM I currently own a SuperDuty, but Ford has crossed the line and I won't buy another one until they change their viewpoint.
Here is a quote from Chairman Bill Ford:

Kicker 10-14-2001, 02:43 PM You can fit 35's with a small lift (2-3")...My brother has a smal lift on his and 35's.
Plus if your lift is small, it gives you add-a-leafs, and that helps up your payload. We had a little over 2 tons in the bed in his. Not too bad.
pigpen62 10-14-2001, 05:21 PM For some reason I was thinking superlift but it is Skyjacker softride 6".

At our club meeting last night, two members showed up with new PSD's purchased in the past couple of weeks. One did 2.9 for 60 mths & the other 4.9 for 60 on an '02. The first guy is a die-hard GM guy, but his brother-in-law was able to get the Ford version of "green sheet" for him. The other guy said his monthly payments only increased $40 per month over the '99 he HAS been paying off & his '02 has a lot more goodies. Got another guy in our club trying to find an F350 dually before the financing deal runs out. Unfortunately, I've come up short in my quest for an '01 GMC with the stuff I want
