: where is it going??
toy 4 rox 06-08-2002, 05:57 AM about every 2 weeks or so i have to add about 1-2 quarts of water to the radiater.i can see no leaks, never any water under the rig,no noticeable water in the oil [no milk shake],checked compretion,,120 at first pump and 130 to 135 second so i do not think it is the head.and it has a new rad.cap.it has 30K on rebuilt 22re. where could it be going??
Arnold 06-08-2002, 08:38 AM Did you check under the carpet? The heater core/hoses might be leaking.

You might want to have the cooling system pressure tested to see if it has any leaks at high pressure. It may only leak when its hot and the coolant evaporates before you can see it.
toy 4 rox 06-08-2002, 01:15 PM no carpet. and i will have the rad.tested thanks any one els
xextr3m3 06-09-2002, 05:21 PM Just be happy its not leaking down the side of your motor:mad:
JamisonWorkshop 06-10-2002, 10:55 AM Mine was doing that for the last 2 years. Just kept filling the overflow container up every couple of weeks. Made me wonder as well. Did not notice any leaks. Head Gasket finally started showing signs last summer. ( milky oil cap ) . It took a while but it finally showed threw. Rebuilt last september. Good to go. My $.02
take it by a smog station and have them "sniff" your radiator over flow tank. i bet it is a head gasket or a cracked head. if so they will be able to detect exhaust fumes in the over flow tank.
130-135 is low for a 22RE. It should be above 150, I believe.
Coop 50 06-10-2002, 01:02 PM Mine was doing the same thing, just a little bit everytime I checked it. I put in a little bit of that Bar's crap, ran it for a day (about 25 miles), then flushed it out the next day with Prestone superflush. Filled it back up with the red sh*t from Toyota, then went on a trip from Seattle to Long Beach Wa and back, it's at the same level as when I left and clean. I guess I'll see at the end of the summer if a head gasket is in my future, but at least it will be at the end of the summer.

Good luck......

That be hydro carbons :)
So hook up a pressure tester, and start it, see if you get a sudden rise in pressure when cold.. And you only add water and no coolant?

Yeah, I'll see how it goes this summer. I didn't leave it in and so far it's perfect, but the hot days up here are still around the corner.
