Does anybody know of a 6-lug 12 bolt out there? I can only find 10 bolts..... Im wanting to put it in a jeep wagoneer along with a Dana 44 up front and I want something stronger than a 10 bolt....

All 12 bolts are 6 lug and they are marginally stronger than a 10 bolt.

Well they put 12 bolts in cars too.... but Ive seen a couple of chevys that had a 12 bolt but I wasnt sure if it was factory. Does anybody know what year of 4wd they came in?

Doesn't your wagoneer already have a 44 rear? If so, just buy new axleshafts with the 6 lug bolt pattern.

U would probably be easier to find a 6-lug 14bolt SF from a '88 to '98 truck and much better axle than a 10 bolt or a 12 bolt. No carrier brake for the gears, 33 spline shafts, and 9.5" ring gear. Probably the best half-ton axle GM used and still uses today in the VOrtec-Max packages. Also came in a 5-lug 2-wheel drive version in the 454 SS trucks and started with an 8-lug version in the 80's. Still using the 8-lug versions in the 1500 HD models.

My waggy came with the AMC 20 in the rear <<POS and the vacum operated dana 44 in the front....... I wanna get rid of the vacum crap and have locking hubs, swap to a better t-case (dana 300), and have a heavy duty rear axle. But I gotta try my hardest to stay 6-lug.... because I bought a smokin deal on some 15x12 weld wheels for $150. Plus, I like chebby :D

X2 on the 9.5"SF much easier to find than a 12bolt and stronger too.

They were also in 2wd p/u's as well.

thanks alot guys... Im trying to hunt one down as we speak. I might have to just settle for a 10 bolt for now. Haha kinda like a temp, but Im going to be running 38-40" tires. I know a 10 bolt would hold up but not for long with alot of hard driving. My main issue with the 14 bolt SF is.... what would I do as far as lugs go? The front has 1/2" studs and the 14 bolt has 14mm.... could I just swap 9/16s into both of them?

The axle you want is very easy to find. Pre-'71 C/10's (with front drums) will have the 6 lugs, and Chevy 1/2 ton 4x4's historically used them since the 60's.
Again, as stated, the 12 bolt really has no tremendous advantages over a 10 bolt. Both suck.

Normally I'd say go 3/4 ton and forget about it, but since you have such a gigantic boner over your rims, I'm guessing any kind of wheeling past parking your truck on the lawn is something you'll never do. It's up to you.

The lugs shouldn't matter as long as the taper on the nuts is correct. Those 14 SF's can be had for $250 around here all day long.

12 bolts were available from 1963 to 1980 in half ton chevy/gmc trucks.

I never understand why everyone bashes 12 bolts? I ran one for years on a heavy truck that I throttled a lot. I never had any problems with it. I ran 35's on a 6800 lb rig, and never even toasted an axle. I have seen several welded/mini spooled twelve bolts and have yet to see one fail.

I do agree that the sf 14bolt is stronger, but I wouldn't hesitate at all with a twelve bolt. 10 bolts on the other hand are junk. Period.

Well I live in Conroe, tx but I dont know about shipping an axle.... I never wanted to do it because shipping would cost more than the axle!!
