Eric will say the same thing when he gets to a computer.

I think they are just associating you w/ your "fat city" bronco right? I think alot of people just always saw it as "the fat city bronco" and never realized it wasn't fat city owned.

nice win man! that thing kicks @$$

Just a little FYI:

If I drove a Toyota truck with "Butt Munch" writtten in huge letters on the side, I could harldy say a word if my rig was referred to by those who saw it as the "Butt Munch Toyota" ;)

I understand the distinction you are trying to make, but you gotta see how that association is being made :cool2:

Regardless - congrats :)

I thought you did drive for Butt Munch Toyota??? I owe JR an apology as well for unintentionaly (I assure you) downplaying his involvement in the design and construction of the Bronco, let alone the driving when I posted in the other thread. I was so stoked for both you and Eric but then when I reread my post I thought it seemed a little one sided and my congrats to you seemed like an afterthought. I apologize and sincerely offer my congrats to you, piloting that rig through that without breakage is quite a feat. :D

Actually, I've met Eric and he seems a good dude. He's a wonderful welder, a good craftsman who can conquer any fabrication feat. The fact is, my brother John did most of the concept and design work, paid the money for, owns, drives, and did lots of work himself on the JOHN REYNOLDS BRONCO. It does irk me that a few adle pated kids want to give all the credit to someone who didn't pay for it, drive it, or win the TTC. If you want to spread some credit, how about: Bro drove his ass off. Give it in turn to "Axle Jack" (of CTM fame) who machined the custom axles for the flippeed Ford 9" to Mog outers lashup. That was a feat. He was also John's spotter for the event.
John told me he did at least 100 hours of prep work for the TTC, including complete waterproofing, re-doing the cooling system, lots of little details that made HIM the champ, not someone else.
I think John is way less uptight and more gracious about this than I, so let's leave it there.
regards, as always, jefe

I asume you are talking about me! Well let me be the first to say

:flipoff: . It is obvious to all but a few that i was refering to john and the bronco winning TTC. I said Fat City because thats what everyone knows it as. Even the mag. depicts it as the " Fat City Bronco " If some were confused then sorry but it wasn't confusing at all. Nobody has a right to be offended except JR. And from what i read he wasn't. His brother was and so were most of all of the people that posted in response.

Seems i shouldn't have to clarify something so obviously stated in the other post. I gave john all the credit.

So to all those who couldn't see the obvious :flipoff:
And to Ramstein :flipoff:

I have a couple of questions which I hope gives some productive answers.

JR- Not only did you win, you kicked ass. That point spread was large in my books. You competed agaisnt some very capable rigs, yet you cornered that number one spot.

Can you tell me what gave you that huge advantage. What does your machine have that brought you to that number one spot? Not only that, obviously your driving skills were up to par with your rig. Give us some insight on your winning formula.

Only asking so that hopefully we can pick up some pointers from you

Thanks in advance

From a watching angle i think his best features was he never spilt a drop of beer, even in the tank trap, Aslo the fact he kept rubbing jacks ass for "Good luck"

J/K i would guess that that whole works great all togeter, I mean the power to weight, the high clerence of the portals, the rear steer, John "hammer it out" driving

JR

I was going to post another thread to make sure everybody read this , but hell this is good enough.

I came home from Holister thinking "I da'man". But when I fired up the 'puter it was looking like the Fat City Bronco drove its self to victory!

Bullshit!

I'm not going to mention the driving aspect of ttc but instead focus on the car sense that is what people want to know about.

About two years ago, I had this vision to build a rock buggy that looked like a bronco. It would be sleeker in all it's dimensions, have removable skins, lots of power and most important quad- steering portal axles.
The first thing was to find a capable machinist who could do the machine work necessary to mate the Ford 9" housings and center sections to the 'mog outer gear boxes. Under my direction, Jack at CTM agreed to do it. He also machined the parts necessary to attach disk brakes to the rear pinion and T case along with machining the hummer rims to fit the 'mog hubs. He did most of the work concerning the hydraulic steering with me doing part of it. He does fantastic work and is worth every penny. He was also my spotter ( good job, man), is a good freind and has a nice ass.

As I started to build my creation, it became evident that even though I have some skill at build-ups ( I'd done a Scout and a Bronco before), I was out of my league for what I envisioned. Plus I don't have the time. So I started to audition fabricators. I almost went with Avalanche eng. when I came across a Fat City advertisment in a mag. After speeking with Eric and seeing his work, He got the account.
While working at Avalanche, Eric had a lot to do with the design and construction of the snypers as well as John Gilland's(spell check) red and white CJ7 buggy. He left Avalanche and started his own business, Fat City Off Road Engineering.
Mostly under my direction ( Eric is kind of a free spirit) Fat City, Eric built the car. There were a few things delegated out and I did help out towards the end of the project ( we were under a
time crunch), but the vast majority was done by him.
He is truly an artist in the way he fabricates not to be matched by anybody.
The "PeoplesChoice" and "Best engineered" awards will go to both Eric and Jack as they deserve them.
They are both freinds of mine, and working together we saw the project through.

John Reynolds still won ttc though.

Brawler, no hard feelings, man. :flipoff2: :D :D

I'm amazed you can fit in the pilot's seat. i don't know if you remember but Eric was working on my FJ40 at the same time he was finishing your Bronco.;) I was going to ask how it was getting used to the rear steer but after that time on the tank trap it would seem you have it down.:D

Having a world class rig helps.
Lots of preperation: If you don't finish you can't win. If it can break, it will.
Be calm: 5 sconds seems like 5 minutes. If you drive for camera action, you might break.
Stay focused: Don't be concerned with how bad you did in the previuos event.
Have your winch cable spooled out and wrapped neatly inside the truck before any event that you think you are going to need a winch. Saves time.
Don't run over your winch cable in the 'trap. I heard someone does it every year. Once it gets all wadded up around the axles in deep water, game over.
Have a supportive crew that knows there stuff and is willing to work hard.
Though Jack, my spotter, didn't need to get out of the car much in the 'trap, it looks like the spotter needs to be in GOOD shape or else he wiil burn out fast runing up and down the hill carrying the winch cable.

Maybe some of the other competitors will add there experience to this. It's kind of interesting.

If it said "4 wheel parts wholesalers" we'd call it the "4 wheel parts wholesalers" bronco......... after we made fun of it for saying "4 wheel parts wholesalers.

It's obviously one of the baddest ass rigs in the planet I've loved it since i saw the tube work getting started... I wish my EB could be that cool... but I say if you need to rub it's badassness and your involvement in its creation in others faces than the whole enjoyment in that process is lost.

Half the fun in this sport is having people talk shit about your rig... now deal with how folks identify that sweet machine and grow up and deal with people not stroking your cock or your friends cock liek you wanted them to.

I glossed over your post and I couldn’t quite decipher what the hell you were trying to say. My wife (who only has one tooth) was able to translate it though.

I have NO problem with the car being called The Fat City Bronco. The original thread (now deleted) titled “FAT CITY WINS” said: Congratulations, Eric…money well spent John. The thread starter knew it was not Fat City who won and that was the problem. The money well spent comment added insult to injury. But thanks for your opinion, Texas Teadrinker!!

Actually I said (I was not the thread starter) "Good to see Fat City getting some good press. Congrats John, money well spent." That's why I apologized after I read that it made the congratulations to the actual winner seem like and after thought. What I meant by that was I was glad to see Eric getting some national press because he is a good guy that does really good work and I would love to see him do well. In hind sight I shoulda reversed the orders of the sentences. Congrats John (self-explanatory) , the money well spent was not meant the way you took it. I saw how much time and effort you put into putting the Bronco together while Eric was working on my FJ 40. From looking at the rig I knew that you had to have a huge amount of money invested and I was merely giving you the nod that the end result was money well spent. IMHO ;)

I apologize for the incoherence of my post... I was rather worked up over how pissy some folks were becoming over what i viewed as a non-event. It wasn't meant to be a non-readable diatribe, but that is what it turned into.

Seems to me that credit was given where credit was due. Is it really worth all this explanation when it was obvious who won and who's bronco it is? I think your point has been made, no beaten to death and i think you are taking this way to personaly. Sloans comment was made out of respect and friendship to Eric, as were mine. In fact, anyone who knows Eric would and should do the same. Jack ,on the same lines deserves an equal amount of respect for being able to pull off such an impossible task with the axles. Hats off Jack!
I deleted the post because i wanted to make sure you got the recognition you deserve. No-one was taking that away from you. And from what i've seen of you and how you are, why do you even care? Doesn't seem like this should even be an issue with you. I PM'd you yesterday to offer an appology and you never read it so i came to read the follow-up on this thread . The money was well spent, and for you to take insult to that is stupid. You spent it and you know it was well spent. You should know by now that you are tha man, but as you also stated Jack and Eric and the men behind the throne. Your driving skill accompanied by the vehicle you drive is why you won.

Don't take to heart what anyone says when you know in your heart that you sir are a winner.

I will also add that John was the one back at camp working on it, Eric drank beers :P, and jack helped as much as he could but John was the one working on it all the time.

Its not just the rig but the driver too, that was evident by corey, who had that chevy pickup, all it has was a 60 and 14bolt, and he drove it.

You guys should of seen the way the John drove the bko,
He new what he was doing, and how to get it done.

The whole money well spent stems from having put cash into mods and then realizing afterwards that you should have gone another route. Come on we've all done it.;) From what I saw of the trucks progression the initial idea was sound enough that it carried through without a lot of re-engineering. And Wldmn we all know that Eric would NOT have been sitting in camp drinking  .:D (yeah right) If you haven't seen this truck up close it is sick, sick, sick.
