hey guys,
i was just wondering what is the best type of autometer gauges to get? mechanical or electric. i have a 92 yj and the gauges in that are connected through a printed circuit board, so im not sure if i should just trace wires and use the stock senders or what my best option is. any info would be great. thanks a lot

if i were you, i would ditch the factory gauges and go electric on everything but oil pressure. the new gauges will come with sending units.

is there any differencce in the speed the gauge reads between mechanical and electric? and will i be able to use my factory wiring with my gauges? im thinking autometer for everything! thanks for the tips guys

mechanical will be faster. the only factory wiring you should be able to use is lighting and power. everything else like sending units and such are specific to the factory gauges and wont work on the aftermarket stuff. autometer gauges come with everything you need to install.

so i assume that mechanical will be the best and then get rid of my old gauges. can i remove the old gauge wires or will that eff up the engine computer? thanks again guys!

should not f up anything as long as you dont remove anything but the wiring for the gauges. i did the same thing on a buddys jeep and eliminated everything but the lighting and power wires. the only mechanical gauge is the oil. all else should be electric. hope that helps.
