I have a 1991 S10 Blazer with a slipping 700R4. I am thinking about turning it into a trail rig, but I think I want to go with a stick instead of rebuilding the auto. Which trans is in the 5 speeds behind the 4.3's?

It's not the 4500?

Not in the s-dimes. It might be different for the fullsizers, but I wouldn't imagine them putting the 4500 behind any 4.3.

Now, I have to ask. How much work is it going to be to covert it? Are there factory assemblies on the truck that are for standard or auto when the trucks are built?

I'd imagine you'll need a clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, shifter, clutch & brake pedal assemblies, blah blah. I went from a manual to an auto on mine when I did the 4.3 swap(originally had the 2.8). Its seems like when I was in there, there was not a place for a clutch pedal to bolt in on my blazer donor with the automatic. It wasn't an issue for me as I was going the opposite direction. I might be talking out of my ass here though, because this has been well over a year ago that I was in there. Maybe someone else can chime in here.
