You can tell by looking at the waterpump and the one inch water tubes go directly to each head. The new style engine has "Improved Cooling" You can tell these by the water pump one inch tubes go directly to the engine block right beneath the heads. It is very hard to tell the two apart just looking from the top of the engine. You almost have to look directly or use a mirror to tell where the tubes go to. The holes are so very close between the 'head holes' and the 'block holes'. The block style holes are right beneath the head.
