Im getting bl's for 76 k30. Can I get away with single beadlocks? Im thinking MRW 16 x 12 with 44 Bog's. I mostly bog and trail run and would like to air down even though rocks are few and far between in Alaska.

Why not run a standard beadlock on the outer and screws on the inner bead?

The only reason I don't recommend screws on both sides is that the outside of the wheel gets beat up by rocks and the beadlock ring will keep you from bending rims.

Who out there is running doubles? How often do you have to tighten the bolts/nuts? In your opinion, are they unsafe for the road? I mean just enough to get to the trail? I do know that most are not DOT approved.

the question is will a double beadlock fit over a D60??? I dont think it will with 16's

Screws on the inside will :smokin:

Yeah, I personally wouldnt run screws in a tire that you are going to air down and use for off-road. Too much of a chance of those screws digging into the sidewall at low pressure. I realize drag cars use screws. But they are ALWAYS on a flat track. Big difference between what they do and what we do.

Edit: If you must have a double beadlock why not try an internal beadlock?

Personally I dont think you need double beedlocks.

For what you're talking about I would think singles would be the way to go.

That said, I have doubles and love them. I run about 2-3psi on the rocks and never have to worry.

Its been done MANY times. Search for inchworm on this site.

I'm sure its been done. No doubt about that. I'm just explaining my reason as to why I wouldnt.

I've witnessed alot of single BL wheels losing an inner bead in the sand. I run a set of USA 6x6 doubles on my rig and it sees way more sand than rocks. I can actually pull the valve cores all together and run them completly flat for the best flotation. That being said, it's a whole lot harder to steer with that much rubber flopping around(even with Hydro-assist!) so i normally run them about 6psi. No problems yet. Except for catching 9 feet of air and bending a rim at 0 psi.:homer:DOH! Bent it back with a hammer, and kept wheeling. Gotta love steel wheels! Zero issues with my bolts ever coming loose either. Every time i go to check the torque, they are fine.
IMO double BL is probably more than you need, for what you will be doing with them. just my $.02
