Since I only know Toyota stuff , I'll throw this question here... yes, I did try a search but it choked on the main board

Are Dana 44 knuckles interchangable between Dana 44 axle housings?

The reason I ask is I think I've seen a good 3-4 Dana 44's with flat top knuckles and am contemplating grabing the knuckles and maybe everything else outbounds and leave the housing till I plan to use them(SAS conversion).

Also, "retard question coming": is the driverside knuckle(ie left side if sitting in the rig) the only side in flat top config that is already drilled and tapped?

Are spindles, rotors, etc interchangable assuming a six bolt configuration on the knuckle?

And last "should be easy to figure out", what vehicles have a stock driverside diff?

Thanks in advance for any useful input.

Yep...D44 knuckles are interchangeable.

The driver's side flat top is the only one that came drilled and tapped (GM and Dodge were, FSJ ones weren't).

Yep, six bolt knuckles and everything in the outers works (GM and FSJ) except the Ford stuff, which ends up being a different length so it uses a slightly different outer axleshaft.

I don't know Toys, but 80-91 Wags had driver's side drops that are about 62" overall width (I think these are common for Toy swaps). All GM stuff will swap on (including outer shafts..which will make them easier to find).

Just be aware that SOME of the 83s and 84s had a center vaccuum disco which is visible sticking out of the diff cover.

When possible get an axle w/ flat tops on both sides... I got one w/ round top and had to buy another knuckle. Then have the pass side flat top milled flat, drilled, and tapped to accept the arm on the pass side for crossover...
