Does anyone have any pics of how you attached the rear traction bar in the front? Ideally I would like to use the stock cross member. What type of bracket was fabbed, or just drill through and attach? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Well, you could search but I'd go to ih8mud.com if Tx's pic doesn't clear it up for ya. Woddy's got most anything you could want to know on his site... It's well worth a bookmark/favorite.

I would not attach a traction bar to the stock cross member. An old roommate of mine did this and the traction bar broke the stock cross member in half. It was not a pretty sight in the least. I would fab one up out of 3/16" thick or thicker box tube. That should be stout enough to handle the forces exerted on it by a traction bar. HTH

Hey txcruzr,
Where did you get that bracket? It looks like is pivots on the top as well as the bottom, is that the case?
Thanks for the help.

Been there, done that! Broke that cross member in half, looked like a big ass tooth pick!

Box tubing crossmember is being fabbed currently. :D

Yeah, that picture doesn't show the cross member. I will take a few more pictures later when I find the digital camera...
I'll explain it then...

I welded a spring perch to the stock crossmember about 1" from the frame. I then bolted my stock shackle hanger and shackle to it and attached my heim joint to the shackle. It has worked fine for over two years. That stock crossmember is pretty thin though. I had to remove mine, spin it upside down, and make it a bolt in crossmember when i put in the NP205.
I had put my traction bar offset to the drivers side cause I knew I was going to a centered rear diff (dana 60:) ) .

I couldn't find the digi, but i photoshoped the picture for you. Where the red line are is the crossmember that was added. It is a big @$$ tube :flipoff2:. where the shackle mounts are two tabs...the shackle kind of looks like the rear shackle off of a chevy p/u...not sure though. The rear of the tractionbar is mouted to the axle with a bracket that was fabed up. Elmer Chapman at West Texas Off Road (same place as TheLakeRat) did the work. He is like me and over kills everything...no wonder he does great work :flipoff2:
If you have any questions e-mail me, and I'll get some more pictures...

Looks good man! I think I will fab up something similar. My traction bar is almost the same, although I have tie rod ends all the way around. I guess I'll just have to make a beefy cross member.
Thanks
