What part of washington is that? I live outside of Portland Or, and pretty much everybody around here goes to the Tillamook Forest. How far away from portland are the places you wheel?

I like to wheel on nikolai mtn. its inbetween astoria astoria and longview WA. the only downfall to the trail system is you have to bring a redneck logger hillbilly with you so you can find the trails.

its actually pretty rad, its in muckilteo, kinda between albertsons and the les schwab, if yer goin north its on the left, theres a place called stods and gymagine on the same road, then you take the trucking roads and right before the curve, its on your left, just a muddy ass dip over the curb, us edmonds wheelers will prolly go back in a couple weeks when all the rigs get fixed, its best after a good rain anyways.

i think ive even seen one of the guys from whore4x4 there, unless theres 2 guys around with a fully caged samuri with onboard welding.

sounds alot like the plank road up lions ridge. the local jeepers used to go up and break half way thru. we used to go in thru woodard creek to the plank road and out moon creek. made for a great 8-10 hour day if no-one broke.

Groundhog Quarry is a play area in the East Fort Rock OHV trail system. You follow hwy 20 east out of Bend about 20 miles. Take a right on Road 23. Follow that another 5 or 6 miles until the road forks. Take Road 25 to the right. Go a few more miles to Road 2510. Go past 2510 staging area several miles. Groundhog is right off Road 2510 on the left. Its marked by a sign where to turn.

Its a fun play area! IMO its worth going. But who knows. I'm just a girl :p Been there a few times to wheel and camp. I go there more often to ride dirt bikes and its AMAZING!

This might help more than my sorry ass directions and give you a little more info:

Guess I should add that from what I understand, the actual trail system is only for motorcycles and quads, not jeeps, pickups and the Class II type. So that limits you to designated road and play areas. Groundhog is a fairly small area. You'd have wheeled every part of it in a day's time. Not to make is sound lame or anything though. I always thought it fun to make a weekend out of it. Wheel one day, camp at the staging area, bring dirt bikes and ride the next day. FUN!

The info board and the Groundhog staging area has maps for you to take. Very helpful!

I'm new to the area,I live in coosbay and would really like to know more about these trails. Don't really know of any places except for the dunes, but they are more fun on my banshee.
