Hi all,
I just change the header on the 4.0 in my 99 TJ. (replacement for a craked Banks) anyways it runs great and all that stuff.
My buddy and I went to do a quick afternoon run today and ran into some issues...
as we were wheeling in 4lo I had to back up to get around an object. I did this with no issue and things were fine. I went to go forward and the clutch dropped to the floor and was grabbing really low. I took it out of gear and sat there at idle, it ran rough for a second and then I could not push the clutch in at all!! no gears no nothing.. I did run like crap before I turned it off. I unplugged the battery to try and reset the computer but that dint work, there is no fluid coming from anywhere, and not its sitting on my buddys land with a tarp on it waiting for me to come and get it on my next day off!!!!

any help or comments would be appricated.
Thanks,
Jason

Does it need bleeding?
Is the fluid low?

Thats just off the top of my head things I might have checked when it happened. I don't know anything about hydro clutchs...

My peddle hit the floor when my linkage broke.. so ya know.

my buddy says it might be a melted clutch plate!!!

I could understand the tongs being broken off the pressure plate, the fork being broken/bent, or the thing that pushes the fork comeing undone from the fork itself.

I guess if you got enough mud up in there it would do it at a high rpm. Dunno.

Why has no one else replied? Today has sucked.

That was my thought also. Clutch adjustment too tight, throwout bearing locked up, heated the fingers, then things turned nasty ...

I would have said ground wire, except that you said the clutch pedal went to the floor. Clean it up and take a good look, but my guess is that your doing another clutch job.

I will check the grounds... and I would be getting over my head putting a new clutch... looks like it goes to the shop:(

Is is possible that the exhaust is too close to the clutch line and boiled the fluid?

that was one of the first things I though of... I checked it and it seemed to be fine.
I got the TJ down form its sleeping spot and over to the shop. This one is way over my head for me to attempt..
