Not new to wheelin' n such, just new to the World O' Chebby. :D

What I have now ...

1984 6.2L 2500 Series 3/4T 14 bolt rear narrow bed w/ tool boxes on the sides.

What I wanna do ...

The bed and boxes are for sale cuz I'm gonna go flatbed bay-bee!! I want to swap out the 14 bolt under it now for either a Dualie 14bolt or a Dualie D70. Gearing needs to be consistent with towing a 25-30' gooseneck while my :jeep: and other junk is on it, maybe a cabover camper on the flatbed.

My question(s) is/are :

How intensive is it to swap a dualie axle under this truck? The flatbed will go on AFTER the swap. Are there any possible bolt up dualie axles out there? Never having had a dualie before, can they be converted over to disc brakes? Is it considerably beneficial to go disc over drum on a dualie?

I'm sure to have more questions for you later. FIRE AWAY! ... NOT :mad3: away :flipoff2:

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!

The springs perches are narrower on the 1 tons(duallys). You can either move the perches or swap the one ton spring hangers on.These hangers sit the springs closer to the frame. This is the only differences I know of.Not sure if the U joints would be the same or not.Blazin:rasta:

You've also got axle width differences, but just build your flatbed around what you choose. The cab-chassis axle is narrower, but outer dually wheel would take up difference in width. The dually with a bed is six inches wider where the inner dually sits about where a single rear wheel sits.
