OK, I konw it's not a hardcore tech question, but can anyone out there with a FSM tell me how much freon the A/C on an '88 4Runner takes?

No FSM, but as an A/C tech, charge it til it is free of bubbles in the drier/accumulator sight glass. Run up the revs when charging it to about 3000 to get it flowing good, fan high and all the way cold.

Yeah, that's how we usually do it, but it helps as a double check to know what the actual pounds should be.

I believe I'm running about 1.5 lbs of R134 in my '84. So I think R12 would be up around 1.75 lb or so. You should use both weight and the sightglass to verify proper charge.
