You have to move the rear hangers out.The XJs are 52" long compared to 46" on the YJ.I say don't bother with them.Just move both (spring and shackle) and reuse your YJ springs.

1st gen toyota 4runner springs will move your wheelbase 4-5" in stock hangers. i did it on the front of mine with xj's in the rear, i need to set my rideheight and weld on the new hangers for the rear, but the front bolted in to the stock hangers, top 3 toyota 48" rears, bottom 3 stock yj leafs.

It sounds like he used the top 3 toyota leafs and the bottom 3 YJ leafs. Atleast, that is what I got out of that. ^^^

Gus310,
Can I get a picture of the front? What steering setup are you running?

This shows why I don't like to use the XJs or any springs really long.Look at the spring hanger just waiting to grab something and stop you.

Just because they didn't catch on them obstacles, means they will never catch ,right?I have done that same trails and have had my hangers catch on a different spot.In fact my driverside hanger has hit so hard at some point, the frame is dented.

By making your point, you reinforced mine.

Just because they are there.....as in my case....does not mean they will catch. Your bad experiences in no way has any bearing on whether or not they catch on everything. And if you want to say personal experiences determine the outcome.....

I haven't "caught" them yet. I have them in the rear AND in the front. Obviously I wheel it like it's stolen, so take it for what it's worth. Not to mention I'm rolling 42's and not 36's. :flipoff2:

To the OP, yes....as mentioned by cheepin, you have to move the shackle hanger outboard of the bumper. The frame hanger can remain the same.

True. But I still would rather have the shorter spring.I had XJ's on my CJ-5 and feel there is very little difference in flex.As far as your 42's compared to my 36's.My WB is only 98" and your is probally around 106".So my breakover angle is probally a little better. So once I goto 1 tons and 42's and keep my YJ springs there will be no hangers sticking out to catch.

I'm at 108"......and I'd test my breakover angle anyday. Matter of fact, every person I wheeled with in the following pic had to winch over the obstacle......except mine. Note the scrapes on the rock. :flipoff2:

Never touched my frame hangers.
