I got a 98 gmc truck. I dont have the key for it. Is there anyway to start it??

take vin number and proff of ownership to dealer

i dont have proof of ownership yet...I am putting a lien on it, i just wanna see if it runs ok

Take the ignition switch off the column and operate it manually (this won't work if it has the theft deterrent system).

it has theft deterrent on it. You will need to go to the dealer and get a key made IIRC. The key has the little chip in it that needs to be in the ignition for it to start.
