I learned a little earlier that Jeff Mello and Tom Ahern won the stock mod class after having a tie breaker run off agaist Currie.

Lance spots for Kathy (JP jeep) in the Pro Rock events, not Mike. And that looks like Lance's step daughter, not his "fly girlfriend". :D

Jason Pauly(sp?) won Trophy class. They did an awesome job! True class act all weekend!

My plans for a casual weekend of helping out and taking pics got interrupted when I was drafted to spot for Russ in his green hornet thing :).

Did not get many pics from Saturday (we were 5th in line, and had some breakage problems ;)... However, I did get some GREAT stuff from Sunday. I'll post it latter this morning.... :D

I think everyone had a great time. There was a dozen rolls on Saturday. Lots of broken parts with some VERY tough coarses laid out. Only a couple rolls on Sunday, but they were spetacular. :) The bull rider flipped over backwards trying to go up the big waterfall that only Chris Duram (sp?) did!

I did not get a chance to talk to you Daniel. I figured out later you were the one in the white pickup... Should have known by the tires you had in the back.. :)

Missed talking with Lance, franky there was two guys that looked like the few pics I had seen of him, and I was not sure which one he was untill the awards were done... :rasta:

I did get to talk with gunracer a bit. Nice meeting ya.. :)

Anyway, I've got pics (and video coming...). Stay tuned... :D

Go2Guy- yea, you had some neeeeet rolls. I was there with your prop guy and we were debating exactly how many rolls it was Saturday. We saw 3 but from the rash the Jeep had we thought there must have been another. The last climb on Saturday was great. Very entertaining rollover action. If only the water had been deeper...............

It was pretty shallow, i don't remember blowing bubbles or anything but we were asking for a snorkel before we ran. I think My snatchblock and $30 pressure gage are still underwater somewhere (the latch failed on my console).

That was Allen Fuller competing in Kryptonite, Dan Gable of Ramsey Challenge fame (orange Cruiser) spotted for him. And yes that was Kenny Stone from Greenbriar, Brad Littrell spotted for him.

Ok guys, I've got the pics thrown out on the web page. Tony sent me some shots from Saturday, so I was able to post some of the roll over action....

I'm a little slow on the names, so if anyone sees any mistakes I made let me know and I'll update the page. CO2Guy, I've seen you at Disney before, but I don't remember your name. E-mail or PM me and I'll update the page!

The best roll over to get was the bull rider's back flip off the big waterfall. Unfortunately we arrived just as they were fishing him out of the water! They had a winch cable connected for safety, but when the truck went ballistic, it broke the cable and came over backwards anyway. I know Jayson's wife got it on video, but my camera was up in my truck...

Anyone have the non-top 10 results? I knew I wouldn't be close, as I had kind of a rough first day, only 16 points, broke twice, never even got to attempt the last two. But I did a little better the second day. I had to leave before results got posted, anybody want to just scan the results? It was my first Comp, and I was the least prepared of everyone I saw. I lost a lot of points to reverses on day 2, as there were some tight courses, and I didn't have cutting brakes. We made it to the last gate of the last course, and ran out of time. We made every other gate of the day.

Are you the one who had the hottie (a female, not you Lance :D ) spotting for ya? :)

Yea, I think he was a little dissappointed. He had worked so hard to make sure the truck would be reliable. He has been working non stop since the first of the year (when he cut it in half :) ).

The broken axles were kinda expected (Dana 44 w/ 36's :p ), but the broken control arm and the dead ARB just caught us by surprise. He only got to finish the first course Sat, but he still managed to finish with almost 100 points at the end.

All in all, I think he feels it was a good experience. Very humbling. :) You get a lot more respect for the guys that do this stuff week after week. It's a tough sport. ;)

Personally, I felt the Sports In the Rough guys did a GREAT job. The officials were excellent, very fair and friendly. They all worked their @ss off all weekend (especiall the crew on Sat Trophy course 2, they worked 4 hours getting everyone winched off that course :) ).

Yep. Kinda disappointed nobody has any pictures of me. I saw several of the guys running on each side of me, but none of me. Guess I didn't have a cool enough rig. Anyway, anybody have the results? I am curious in how my 2nd day compared to everybody else.

Look at that, three Twisted Customs rigs on the top. You should see the other stuff Jason is working on. Will kick ass.

I looked thu all my pics and I did not have a single one of you guys :(. I'll keep and eye out, I'm sure someone has something. Also, I know Jayson and Danny brought home copes of the official results. I'll find out how you placed (reply or PM me your comp# or name). If I can find any pics, I'll e-mail them to you...

You had a clean rig, I meant to ask. Was that a CJ5 on a CJ7 frame? The WB was defiantly longer than a 5.

I got to see you guys run a few courses Sunday. I thought you did a great job. You guys made it thru course 5 on Sunday, and a lot of trucks did not accomplish that. Great patients, and excellent driving. It's surprising to see a couple that can get along that well under pressure. :) I hope you two had a good time.

I got robbie to fax me the final results page. Here's a link to the fax image (it's too big to post as an image, and unreadable if I make it smaller):

YellowCJ - You finished 17th. Day 1 you had 16 points, Day 2 94 points, for a total of 110. You were one place behind me and 'Wild Thing' Russ :) , and one place ahead of Jayson and Danny...

MattS has some pics of you, my buddy took all his pictures with his camara. I think they most of themhave your Spotter in them though. We were impressed with how well you did with that simple jeep. Also is that a T-176 tranny? Thats what it looked like and if so even more impressive job for doing so well with shitty gearing.

YellowCJ
06-12-2002, 05:53 PM
Yes, it is a T-176, I had a 435 in it on thursday, but screwed up some of the insides while trying to replace the top cover. All of it came out thursday night, and the stock stuff went back in. I had a lot of points because I Didn't have the turning radius, and several more for not trusting instincts. I am running a crawl ratio of about 40 to 1, and the carb wouldn't let it run below a thousand, so I was always in a hurry.

Yep, there were only 9 rigs in the mod class. If i were starting over, this is the class to be in!

Yellow CJ, your team did great- especially considering your weber, tall gearing etc. I heard a lot of people compliment how well the two of you worked toether and used your head- that's the hardest thing to do is keep your head in it and think..

Like the last obstacle on sunday- how many, myself included tried to snake around the b-cone off camber without touching vs just going up on the ledge and dropping back down- duh!

i hope you were not discouraged and I look forward to running with you again.
