saw an article in one of this months mags (might be jp) about Currie making a rockjock 60 for jk's. has the sensor built in.

Go over to www.jk-forum.com and do a search...someone claimed there was a company that has done 2 conversions with D60's under a JK.

Thats all and fine, but there are also two sensors in the diff that have to be delt with. the one that slides under the locker magnet can be tossed and the light in the gauge cluster taken out but the other must be reused because it reads the vehicles direct speed before being ditributed to the wheels. It is also the hardest to be moved. The only way to do away with this is to remove the ESP modual from the vehicle and run differant brakes on the new axles. Or have a machine shop cut the housing for the sensor and adapt the brakes to reuse the speed sensors and rings.

Hope that helps.

Mike,
Call Dynatrac. They supplied both 60's in our JK 4dr and there are no ESP issues. Not sure what they did, but it drives fine. Only issue we had was the dif. hitting the large oil pan of the new motor.

A friend ordered some D60s from Dynatrac, quite the waiting list since they are the only ones building them with sensors.

Im not shure what sensors you are talking about. as the 2wd & 4x4 model do not have any sensors going into the differential (ring gear speed sensor?). The Rubicon does but only for the locker, one to engage it and one to sense that it has infact engaged.

That ABS/traction control system shouldnt need 5 if it has sensors on each output shaft @ the wheel... 3 sensors on the rear axle, 2 in the front?.

The older model ABS/Traction control had 1 in the rear diff and one on each spindle in front equating to 3 overall vehicle/wheel speed sensors.

the new JKs only have 4 wheel speed sensors, the computer then computes vehicle speed and each wheels individual speed.

Big thanks guys.... we have gone forward with the kingpin rock jock front and rear rock jock. Jordan at AEV is building a program to read a 4 tooth tone wheel on the atlas to trick the computer. We are hoping this works. If not I have to put tone rings on the rear axle. Customer doent care about lights on the dash as long as my shift points and motor run right.

This build is as follows
currie rock jocks... front dedenbear everything
atlas 4 sp
front coilovers
psc ram assist (its beautiful) the box is nuts
41 inch iroks...
I am using a Rubicon express long arm system which has worked out well
rear coils are front 3.5 tj coils .... doing all my own brackets ect... keeping the factory rear fuel tank there is no room for a 4 link at all. its very tight.

The front coilover towers have been a challenge because there is NO WHERE to get an engine bar through the engine bay. lots of trussing ect. I am able to get a 12 inch travel coilover stuffed into the fender well to get the ride height I want. All is going well so far. Ill get some pics up in the next couple days.

again thanks for the imput guys

Sounds interesting Mike, show pics of the build when you get a chance.

Make sure to check that there aren't different signal rates front to rear. I've seen on some vehicles that they run different numbers of teeth on the tone wheel front to rear, so the ESP computers have to take this into account.

One thing that could still bite you with this setup is if they have any diagnostics that check sensors against each other. With just wheel speed sensors, they can detect that a vehicle is turning, and they may compare that against the sensor in the steering wheel to make sure the system is working properly.

They may also have a lateral acceleration sensor, and they could compare that in the same way as the steering angle sensor. Either of these types of diagnostics might trip you up.

I don't know the exact system on the JK, so I don't know exactly what diagnostics they will have, but on other systems I have seen this type of thing.

After you put the box in, make sure you do some figure 8s in the parking lot and see if the system puts you into a safe mode.
