Just last night I noticed that the blinkers on my 78 f250 don't work. The hazards and all lights work, but no blinkers. I can't find the fuse for the blinkers, there has to be one, but theres nothing for them on the fuse panel, and I tried a couple flasher canisters that I know work, with no luck. Anybody have any idea where the fuse for the blinkers would be, or what I should do? I have a spare blinker switch that I could replace on my steering column, but I think that will be a pain to change, and that would be the last resort. Especially because I think I would have to change the whole wiring harness in the column, which wouldn't be too terribly bad since it is all connected to one plug. So does anybody have any ideas what I should do?
when mine die it is always because they are full of water
one of these days I am going to drill a drain hole in them when I replace it.

Wow. I think I've had every possible combination of working & non-working blinkers, usually due to grounded (read old & abused) wiring in crumpled corners, but I've never had 'em not work at all, unless it was the flasher, and you've eliminated that since the hazards work... I'd have to think switch or wiring to/from switch.
Definately let us know what you find.

If I'm not mistaken, there is a flasher for the hazards, and a flasher for the blinkers. The one for the hazards is small, the one that came off of what I"m assuming is the blinkers is a huge heavy duty flasher, I put a plain one where that one was with still no luck. So tomorrow when I can use the steering wheel puller at work, I will pull my parts steering column apart and see if I can take the switch out, and try a brand new flasher too, hopefully the same size as the one that came off. Does anybody know if there even is a fuse for the blinkers?

Well now I'm really stumped. I put in a brand new flasher, I also plugged my spare steering column into the plug that the steering column in my truck was plugged into, and still I can only get the hazards to work, but no blinkers. I doubt the blinker switch is broken in both columns, so there has to be something else wrong. Is there a separate fuse for the blinkers that isn't on the fuse panel anywhere? Or what else can I check, because I ran out of things that I can think of.:confused:

x2 on multiple flashers - the hazzards and blinkers use diffrent flashers - the one for the blinkers in not in the fuse block - it is usually hanging on / behind the dash

Right now my driving lights don't work on my '78, neither do the hazards but the flashers work fine :[

My friend figured it out. There is a bad wire somewhere. So we spliced a new wire directly from the back of the fuse panel (I guess there is a fuse for the blinkers, it was just worn off so I didn't know what one it was) to the plug for the flasher canister. So now everything works. We also found out that there are two fuses for the dash lights. One big fuse feeds so a really small fuse for some reason and they both need to be there for the lights to work. seems odd to me, all factory too.

hey u might try and see if ur brake lites come on when u press the pedal. the blinkers go through the same wire as the brake lights so if one doesn't work then i'm guessing the other doesn't. another thing u might try is shining up your grounds for a better connection. i've had trouble before and it was just a stupid ground wire that didnt have a good connection. i would try to find the prolblem rather than run a new wire.
