It is probably a 350, but if it is a 1 ton, it is a 400.

You didn't say whether it was automatic or manual? If it is an auto probably a turbo 350. And yes, back then they did come with manuals. We had an old Chevy with a manual as a field truck.

I was just about to tell you "it is a van" cuz i didnt know they came with manuals....
anyways, do you guys think this would be a good swap into a cruiser?? i mean, is the carb reliable, tranny, etc... and this is not for a HD Rockcrawler; daily driver.
and is it cost effective to mate the th350 to the cruiser tranny?

If its a auto 2wd van climb underhte truck and check the tranny tailshaft where the driveshaft exits. There is a flange on the tranny and tailhousing where the two bolt together. A six bolt hex shape bolt pattern is a th400 and a four bolt square bolt pattern is a th350. there are a few kits to mate the two trannies to the t-case, most I have seen are about $800, but they are common used so you might find a setup cheaper...

350 = Square pan with a corner cut off...
400 = Looks kinda like the state of Texas???
