I can finally afford to get a bike. now I don't know which one to get. I have limited riding experience on the street but I can and have ridden 600s and a 750 gsxr. I want to buy a used one but I can't decide between an R6, gsxr 600, cbr600rr and kawi zx6r. can anyone help me choose?

get the one thats the most comfortanle for your body. all of todays 600's are so close in performance and handling the average joe wont be able to tell the difference. and with your exp you wont take the bike anywhere near its limits. so just get the bike thats comfortable for you and invest in some good gear....and some trackdays

x2 go sit on all of them...make sure you buy some GOOD GEAR!!!! and dont ride beyond your abilities. trackdays are for pushing the limits.

trackdays arent soo much for pushing the limits....ya you can get your speed fix. but the skills you learn on the track will directly translate to the street and could save your life. you'll learn more about braking, cornering, picking lines than you would riding on the street. its well worth it. plus you get your speed and adrenaline fix at the track so you arent doing it on the streets in an uncontrollable enivronment that will end up getting you killed or a pile of tickets

i know that. but i was getting at the point of dont take the bike out on the streets and push it past his limits or the bikes. if he wants to see what it and he can do he needs to go do a track day, get pointers, and "increase" his limits. i highgly recommend the motorcycle safety foundations riding classes too. they do a great beginner and anvanced class.

Sit on all the bikes and find which fits you best. Another option to consider is the CBR 600F4i. The earlier models have the 2 piece seats that look a little better and the riding position is a little less race oriented than the others. You need to consider what you're going to use it for and which bike fits you best.

from my experience its better to go for brand new than used ones.

Don't buy brand new, especially for your first bike. Not only does the value of the bike drop like $4k the second you drive it off the lot, it decreases even more the first time you drop the bike or it gets knocked over.

x2!!!! definately dont buy new for your first bike. chances are you will drop it or fall down or something stupid and damage the bike.

Check your ins. too...some of my friends who have donor bikes pay outrageous amounts. That is why I like my KLR...

thats true i didnt even think about that but insurance wil probably be more a month than the bike payment. i hope you are over 25! after 25 it drops alot but inusrance on sport bikes has gotten ridiculous.

Keep in mind that if you buy used your bank wil make you carry full coverage ins. If you buy new and can qualify for factory financing you only have to carry liability. I have seen quotes as high as 12k per year for a rider under 20.

******I DO NOT RECOMMEND riding without full coverage, but that freedom lets you set a much higher deductible and get a lower premium.

I thought factory financing requires you to carry full coverage? Shop around because some insurance companies base the rate on engine displacement while others do it based on model (which one's are more likely to get stollen, etc).

Nope, they used to require it on bikes over 10k, but about 2 years ago Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawi <HSBC & GE dropped it.

Dont know about Honda, but they are the easiest to get so I bet they dont have it either.

some of them i believe dont require insurance at all....just the law does. they had to do it that way to keep selling bikes, the way insurance companies were charging it was hurting there business.

Do not ever, ever, ever never buy a new or even a new-ish bike for your first ride.

I've got an 05 ninja 636r I'm thinking about selling so I can buy a trail rig. I'm the original owner and I've babied it. It has tons of aftermarket stuff on it and new pilot power 2ct race tires. It's never been on a race track or drag strip. Let me know if your interested, I'll send some pics for ya. My email is jameshobbs@yahoo.com
