: New springs

I have a 1981 fj 40 and wanna put some longer springs on to get a better shackle angle. currently springover stock springs. Any suggestions?

You should try some springs out of a bed or couch. Just my .02 <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

You could use FJ55 springs in the rear. This will move your axle back about 3.5" or so and the spring itself is 4" longer than an FJ40 spring so that could give you a better shackle angle. If you just want a better shackle angle, you could always move the mounts on the frame.

I have 55 springs in the rear and moved the hanger 2" to the rear. W/2" over stock shackles the shackle is at 45*

I the front I did a reversal and am running stock 40 springs with 1" over stock shackles 45*. I moved the rear shackle 4" to the front from where the old spring hanger was.

I am 100" total wheelbase now.
