Hey guys, I'm getting ready to re-do the front of my xj and I was wondering what you guys think about the Fox 2.0 Shocks? I am going to be using the jeep for crawling but i wanna still be able to drive it on the highway to get places instead of towing the thing. Would these be a good way to go instead of the coil springs?

Air shocks? or 2in coil overs?
Ill assume your talking air shocks.
From my experience with buddies who run the 2in fox air shocks on there trail only buggies, they recharge or adjust them before every trip.
My Air rams I have to do the same thing, adjust the height before every trip.
On a daily driver it might be a PITA for you to adjust them periodically. Coil overs and coil springs are like no maitinance and more reliable.
If you get a ding in your air shock from a flying rock the ding will cut the bottom seal and let all the nitrogen out... no fun. Id cary the nitrogen in yoru rig in case this happens, and is quite common from what Ive seen.
Id do coilovers or good coil springs with a resivor shock.

They are also really expansive to get them vavled right and set up for what you are using them for.
Go coil overs.

I had the 2.0 airshocks and they were to soft so I went to the 2,5 and they are much better

I did the same research as you are looking for, and just came up that with the XJ the 2.0's just can't support the weight out front that well (especially with EXO + Bumper + Frame Plating) so I plan to use the 2.5" air shocks as well. Although the new FOA coilovers are only about $200 more total (2.5" air shocks are 350 a piece!!! There goes the cheap factor) and would be MUCH more reliable for a longer road trip to the trail.

I think coil overs are gonna be the way to go for reliability, especially for a vehicle that is gonna be driven around a lot. The cheap factor was a big thing in deciding the air shocks, but if the 2.5's are gonna be that much more, coil overs are definitely the way to go. Thanks guys

another bad thing about airshox is if for whatever reason one looses pressure the Jeep sits at a pretty f-ed up way, not real drivable on the street.

not sure about the front but i am running the 2.5 fox air shoxs in the rear and it is still some what driveable but they are really soft and make the jeep sway alot so i ran a winch to my rear and it was driveable like that but i plan on a anti rock sway bar but if ya had to do all that for the front i would probley go with coil overs will probley be cheaper in the long run!
