I was hoping on getting some thoughts on using rockwells on a trail machine. I have the typical 14bolt rear and d44 front with 38.5 boggers. Been thinking selling what i have and getting rockwells and 46" xls,,,

Any thoughts on how practical this combo with be for trail riding? I know you see the guys on TTC running the 54" boggers and 46" claws, but who about the real world?

rocks are great for my area of wheelin, Southeast, but they do good in other places as well. The best tire for my area with rocks seem to the the 47 LTB's. They hook up real well in the dirt, rocky, trails around here.

Im pretty close to the south east over here in west KY but there doesnt seem to be a really strong wheeling community in this area to pull from. Are most of the rockwells your seeing full size or cut down?

most people use them full width...if you flip the hubs you will be about the same width as a full width dana axle.

lol, cute.... wonder why it reads....

Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.

try this: search (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/search.php?searchid=1156053)

Oh, by the way... if you wanna learn to use the search function, do something like this:

If youre searching for "Rockwell hub flip" type the words "Rockwell AND hub AND flip" and then hit return.

This will cause you to get MORE results that are CORRECT , instead of a "IMA DUMASS" sign

I've got rockwells and 47 ltbs on my jeep. They work great! you'll love the 6.72 gears and unbreakable shafts. Everyone asks "what about trees?" I either drive over'em or mow'em down!

hmm well it used to work to link a search..... I had two pages of results with several "how to flip my rocks" type posts in the first ten.....
anyhow the point was with a red star there is no excuse not to search and if you know how to use google there's no excuse without a star. :D
EDIT: hey grumpy...... click YOUR link now:laughing:

.... unbreakable shafts.

Plenty of guys on this board can shoot that statement down.
Don't get me wrong, I love Rocks (see signature :D), but unbreakable...?
Not in stock form my friend.

HOWEVER... http://ouversonengineering.com/ on the other hand.

If you've got 47" tires and aren't breaking stock shafts, you must be EASY on the stupid pedal. I've broke them with far less tires.

are you talkin about michelin xls? those are a much heavier tire than the boggers or claws. i have a set of 52" michelin XLs and they have about a 1.25" sidewall. even with no pressure you will have a hard time getting any sidewall flex with the XLs
