I'm using a set of ranger mains and chevy 3/4 tonne leafs under them on my jeep. The ranger main has the same dimensions as the f-150 I think. 56-57 inches long with 7" offset center pin. Very flexey spring from just applying weight to it. I have a set of f-150 rears and they are almost identical to the ranger springs. I'm running teh ranger chev hybrids in the rear for a softer flexy spring and the f-150's up front for a bit heavier rate to compensate for the engine and tranny. I just moved my mounts foreward and rearward till the true center of teh spring was where the center of the YJ springs were. That way I'll gain a few extra inches in wheel base where the spring is offset.

We tried running ranger springs it he rear of a 4 runner. They bend very easy when flexed hard. We couldn't make them last more than one or two trips. We then switched to F-150 (same dimensions) They only lasted slightly longer. At the very least, you will need some kind of anti wrap bar. They should be travel limited, but that defeats the purpose of installing them in the first place. Go with All Pro's springs. They are the best spring for the money in my opinion.

I never measured how much we moved the hanger. I just put the rear axle where it was supposed to be and fabbed new mounts. The springs bent near the front eye and at the front of the axle pad. We were using every bit of anangled Rancho 9012 shock.

I'm running them on my 93. I can give you a measurement but I don't know if it would help on your 85. I mixed in some S-10 leaves for more lift also.

I moved the front 3 3/8" forward. The center to center distance between the front mount and the rear shackle mount(mount on frame) is 52 3/8" .

O.K.,
the measurements from the 79 we built,, are :
.
(a) springs are 56"s long (eye to eye)
(b) offset of the centerbolt is, 25 1/2"/30 1/2"
(c) the shorter end forward
(d) new front hanger is aprox 5"s forward from stock

we left the stock rear shackle hanger and used the Ford shackle as the laydown part of the double shackle:)

the Ford springs gave no lift at all (single pack),so a set of 4" steel blocks were installed, and a little longer shackle
