: Very busy weekend, nayone need some parts??

I've had a very busy weekend, and hope to finish today or tomorrow. I have finally started to strip down :nuke: my 76 parts rust bucket. Some parts I will be keeping, some I will be selling, some I will give away, and some I wouldn't think of giving away and will be hauled to the scrap heap on Thursday!

I already know I am keeping the windshield frame, brake booster/master cylinder and the fiberglass roof, but if you're interested in some of the other stuff, let me know. The tub and frame are worthless, except for the firewall and the front half of the frame - perfect for a MetalMender type project. :D Block is also worthless, cracked at both engine mounting arms! Most small stuff I can ship via FedEx with my employee discount, anything else I would prefer pick up or I could coordinate a meeting somewhere with in 150-200 miles of Steamboat (anywhere along I-70 between Denver and Grand Junction).

Here are a few pics!!

Tub is worthless??? Over here in Belgium a tub in such a condition is considered almost brand new :flipoff2: :flipoff2: .

I was thinking of keeping the 76 center hump, but I have the hump from my 75? It might be a little warped on the rear end of it where it conformed to a warped floor, but still in great shape.

I second what Christof said. For an east coast owner that tub and frame look great unless I am missing some "hidden" rust somewhere. Those front fenders sure do look nice and solid as does the rear of the tub. Too bad you can't teleport those parts back east for us. :D

You are missing TONS of hidden rust. Partly by the sheets of fiberglass bondo'd to the sides and stuff. Here are a couple shots. Underneath is even worse. I can push holes through portions of the frame, and rear channel is a wood 2X4!! :barf:

damn....my tub was way worse than that when I redid it....MidWest rust at its finest! That little bit of surface rust on those rear wheelwells? Heck you can't even se ANY of the tire thru those holes, much less the ENTIRE rear tire like my old tub....

IMO, that's a recoverable tub-firewall....

I'll third or fourth the opinion on that tub. I only wish my cruisers tub had been that good when I got it in the beginning.
to call a tub worthless around here, means you can lift it off the truck without tools....

I feel better about mine now. It just has the rear channel rusted out, and the bottom of the quarters is rusted through as well. That is about it though. I thought it was in bad shape.

What condition is that dash pad in? Any cracks in it? I might be intereted if it is in good shape. How is your foot healing? Are still having to take pain medication. Just thought I would ask. Thomas

I have done many a cruiser rust restoration and only one was as "good" as that tub - the rest were FAR worse! I would fix that tub in a heartbeat. Damn you west coasties! Out there it's a parts truck, elsewhere it would be a restoration project...

The first Cruiser I had was so bad that a basketball could be passed through the floor under the gas tank, through the tool box and in the back right corner of the tub. I fixed it with one sheet of 18g, one sheet of 16g, about 6' of 2" square tub, some 11g plate and about 15 pounds of mig wire...also used about 1000 pounds of blasting sand!

Gotta be on site to really appreciate how BAD it is!! The firewall is the ONLY metal that doesn't need to be replaced!!

Fenders are spoken for as of yesterday morning. If it falls through, you're on! There is some rusted out areas at the front mounting areas where it mounts to the front bib though!

My 75 is that way - it gets new qtrs, new wheel wells, new rear channel/sill and new paint starting a week from Thursday!! I "rescued" it from Hyannis, Mass. But I suspect it lived most of its life in CA (Ca. emissions) and AZ (found oil service history from some place in AZ as late as 92/93), so it could have been worse.

I'm contemplating colors/scheme. Any ideas? No Tony the Tiger schems please!!:flipoff2:

Yep, still plenty green, but the river is low (560cfm versus the 2600+ avg for this time of year) and it is still very very dry. We've been getting smoked out over the past 3-4 days from the Glenwood Springs fire, and Sat traffic in town was hell as 50 miles of I-70 was closed and folks jumped off at Wolcott on 131 to Steamboat, then US 40 to Craig, then the road to Rifle - an extra 200 miles!

The top dash pad is cracked in about 4 places, top to bottom. The bottom pads looked okay, I think.

Looks like I'll be in your neck of the woods on Sat/Sun if you need anything. I'm already hauling some stuff that I've sold. Let me know.

Anyway, if you want, you can give me a call on my cell phone. That number is (970)227-9673.

How about the 3rd member out of the front end? I desparately need a low mileage 4.10 diff to replace the rear I broke last month. Need it shipped to Florida.

I just bought 2 whole axles from a non-cruiser person and the first ended up being a 3.70 and the 3rd out of the drum brake front (the second) ended up having rust from sitting so long??? Sucks...

I know the 3rd is heavy, but if you can box it I'll pay shipping - the discount mentioned should help.

C'mon help a fella out, I'm almost ready to throw the 3.70 in just so I can get back on the road...

The hoods in pretty good shape. A couple pieces of the hardware are missing though. Just some surface rust, and some sh!tty paint. I'll see what I can come up with for shipping.

As far as how much, I don't know, what is a hood worth these days? Make an offer. I haven't even priced that yet. I'm easy!!;)

I plan on keeping the front 3rd as my spare. The rear is staying with the axle. The front has a little rust as well, but I think it'll clean up and be a good spare.

I still have the fenders and aprons, but someone else has expressed interest in them, but I've been in the UK and off line for a week. If they do becoem available, they aprons are in pretty good shape, but the fenders have some rust and some bondo as well and they look as if the lights had been moved a little, too.
